Besides Mohamed Shahin's stick dance instructional video, are there any other instructional videos for cane/stick dancing?

Nourhan Sharif's Raks Assaya is a gold mine. No choreo, just drills, steps, Assaya work, and combos.

She breaks down some moves typical for entrances and finales as well.

Hadia has a good cane video. I wasn't sure from the word "stick" in the thread title if you were looking for a more masculine style, but I would have recommended Nourhan for that, too. I keep hearing the sentiment that Yousry's assaya technique is always very heavy on the tahtib stylization, even when he's choreographing for women.

I just bought the Nourhan Sharif DVD but have not had the chance to even open it yet! How is the Mohammed Shahin one?

I e-mailed Nourhan. She said that Maqam now owns the rights to all of their media and will be doing a reissue at some point in the future.

I didn't buy his because he mostly uses Paypal. He will make arrangements for other forms of payment but he is so busy traveling all the time that I think it's more difficult for him to do it that way. Next time he comes to Chicago I hope he brings his videos. I took a cane workshop with him and it was fantastic.

In the meantime, I ordered Cory Zamora's from Amazon and will get it in about ten days. I'll keep you posted.

Haven't seen it, but Horatio Cifuentes has a Saidi / Raks El Asssaya dvd in the Oriental Fantasy range..

Argh, these are all really hard to find! I especially wish I could get my hands on Nourhan Sharif's... I couldn't find it in Aladdin's Cave. If anybody else finds a source, let me know!

Since cane dance is so hard to find - and to get - it's good to know more are coming out. In fact, I would love to see the feedback on Horacio's.

Nope, didn't work. They're out, too. I'll just have to wait until Maqam reissues or I can find a used one at a somewhat reasonable price!

I'll add that I was worried about getting Mohamed Shahins, that it might go too fast for me... I'm a total beginner at cane. How is it for teaching technique, vs showing great combos?
