i love the white costume even knowing i couldnt wear it LOL

dont get it and dont like it.

and its hard to see from the video (its uploading sooo incredibly slow for me) but is that white bra top just nipple tassels??

the dancing is nice, but I'm not too kean on the costumes. It takes away from the great technique. Instead of watching the dancers, I'm thinking "are their boobs getting sore from lack of support?"

I found it difficult to get past the tops. I wasn't crazy about the the way the video was cut into a series of little clips, either. Between the costuming and the flipping from one sound bite sized clip to another, I didn't form much of an impression of the dancing one way or the other, so what I noticed was more style than substance. I didn't like it enough to watch it again to take a better look. The girls looked good and the dancing could have been very good for all I can say.

I found it kind of horrifying. Videos like this are the reason why some people have such a tough time believing that we keep our clothes on when we dance ..c::

if we were meant to appreciate her dancing then more than a couple seconds would have been shown in continuity. it was kindda obviously (from my point of view) meant to be using BD to say "im sexy", and not in a cute way.
and yheah, pasties do not qualify as a costume top, no matter how nice your belt or skirt fabric are.

Not for me, for reasons already stated.

Plus, are they supposed to be zombies? I don't understand the makeup.

Actually I liked it. But the use of a belly dance costume and a few belly dance moves actually irritated me. Why did she try and link this to belly dance? Why not just stick to dancing?

From a purely stylistic approach to the costuming...Lilith is devastatingly beautiful, the crown of thorns like vine that is painted on her really appeals to me. I use this song sometimes at the end of our show to get the ladies in the audience dancing with us.

Nice skirts. Looks like some sharp technique. It's just a shame they forgot their bras. ..c::

I'm not loving the "veins & pasties" look. If Marilyn Manson ever decides to throw an "Arabian Nights" theme party, she'd be a shoe-in for the gig.

I liked it. I thought it was interesting, they are obviously very talented and the costumes (or lack thereof) were cool. I would hope that the body paint and overall zombie theme would clue customers into the fact that this is more of a theatrical/artistic piece than something we do/wear at Uncle Bob's birthday party.

Well there was a period in time where the Turkish Belly Dancers were, well let's just say, they weren't dancers but in another line of business.

I agree. There were some aspects of the video that I actually like from a video artisitic point of view, unrelated to BD. But I don't like the message it sends to the general public, most of whom have never seen a legitimate belly dancer. Unfortunately, this is the type of stereotypical stuff they are exposed too and it hurts us all. Except those of course, who rely on sex appeal.

That 6:40 bit...what's up with the seashell??? My hope is that it contained a hidden cell phone and she was calling for something to cover up with.

Although true for many Turkish dancers many of the straight ones also danced in very little. Princess Banu springs to mind. G-string and pasties any one?

I'm in the great art - but very little belly dance camp. I enjoyed it but wouldn't show it to my students as an example of belly dance. Not because they can see cleavage and legs - but because the dancing is more jazz or theatre.
