So I have a performance on October 30th, which is Halloween. I'm thinking of doing beladi as Elvira. What do you think?
Have any of you done Halloween events or Halloween themed parties? What did you all do for them?

Re: Bellydance on Haloween
Last one I did I wore a coin bedlah with a pink skirt and fairy wings. Danced to Chicky and Eyes like Yours. Mainly because it was a slightly off the wall GP event. I have also spun fire from time to time on Halloween.

Re: Bellydance on Haloween
If you can also do a drum solo to Hossam Ramzy's "Halloween" (Sabla Tolo I), that'd been completely awesome.

Re: Bellydance on Haloween
lol. nice. I don't know what I'd dance to. I'm not really big on drum solos, although that one is cool. It doesn't really sound halloween at all though.

There's always "I Put a Spell On You" by Natacha Atlas... you could paint your face green and wear a witch hat. :-D
I love Halloween... it allows me to take some more creative liberties than normal.Last edited by Lesedi; 09-04-2010 at 02:05 AM.

Re: Bellydance on Haloween
My troupe and I are working on a zombie-themed burlesque fusion routine (wow, way too many descriptors there) to a mash up of Rob Zombie's 'Living Dead Girl' and Marilyn Manson's 'Sweet Dreams' for a hafla on the 30th
It's about as authentic as deep-fried hummus, but it should go down well with the crowd, who are used to a mix of traditional and fusion. And we'll have fun doing it too!

Re: Bellydance on Haloween
I've never done Halloween themed belly dance (though I've always wanted too!) but I've attended a few and had a blast. A few years ago there was guest dancer here from Alabama who did the most awesome 1700's french opera singer performance. The song she used was like a funky opera mix song and instead of pretending to "sing" the opera with her mouth, her belly did the singing if you can imagine that! It was sooooo funny and entertaining and still belly dance. She wore the tall curly wig and a modified 17th century style dress that was strategically cut to show her belly and waist. Another dancer did an amazing act as a zombie dancer, when the drum parts came on, she would brake out into these hilarious shimmy convulsions. I thought that was so creative and I'd never seen it done before. I wish I had a video!

Re: Bellydance on Haloween
I've done a veil dance to "I'm Under Your Spell" from the Buffy the Vampire Slayer musical episode.
I was toying with the idea of doing veil poi to "Defying Gravity" from Wicked this year (I have an awesome witchy green veil), but the Halloween hafla I'm in has very low ceilings and hanging light fixtures.

Re: Bellydance on Haloween
i used a flute taxsim and drum solo and did a mummy rising from the grave to terrorize the audience (and then going back to "sleep" at the end) last year. apparently it was good because one of the other dancers told me she was going to "steel it, lock stock and barrel" T_T

Re: Bellydance on Haloween
I made a pair of "bat" Isis Wings. It's shaped with the traditional three points and a tail and made with a slinky chiffon. Looks great just using normal ol' Isis wings movements, looks JUST like a bat! Reminds me of the "Batman Begins" movie when Bruce gets a flashback of the baty opera show. ..g.:
