"Dance in Egyptian Cinema" lecture by Shira

I'll be presenting my Dance in Egyptian Cinema lecture at the Northern Lights Bellydance Festival on October 31 in Wisconsin.

I will be lecturing on how dance has been portrayed in Egyptian movies over the decades. I will discuss some of the famous clips of Samia Gamal, Tahia Carioca, Naima Akef, and others, including cultural nuances, historical references, etc.

Often, we see these dance scenes out of context, in collections of a bunch of clips. And sometimes we're confused by what we see. I'll shed some light on these questions as I show the clips, and provide background information about them.

Here's my facebook page for my lecture: Login | Facebook

Here's the official web site for the Northern Lights Bellydance Festival as a whole: Northern Lights Bellydance Festival || Oct. 29-31, 2010 | Kalahari Resort, Wisconsin Dells | Aziza

And here's more detail regarding what my workshop will be about: Shira's Belly Dance Workshop Course Description: Dance in Egyptian Cinema

    drooling, as usual.
I know it would be a total PITA in regards to licensing all the clips, but if you ever got around to putting your lecture on film, I would be happy to buy a copy ..g.:

Not the same as being in the lecture & having a chance at discussion, but a lot less expensive than a plane ticket from Alaska!
