Thread: Article on bellydance in the latest 'Rolling Stone'

Has anyone read it yet?

I rarely see Rolling Stone on the shelves. Is there an online link, or can you give a summary?

I subscribe, so I'll let you know when I get.
Where I live (NE NY us) I see in in stores.

I somewhat randomly have a subscription to Rolling Stone that came as a freebie with something else--do you mean the Dec. 23 issue, with John Lennon on the cover? I don't see an article on belly dance in there.

The cover's Eminem. Its the Middle East issue so I guess the contents are different to the issues in other parts of the world - lucky me eh? :-)

Its very interesting and examines the decline of bellydance in the Middle East with a focus on Egypt but instead of Western journalists asking Western dancers what they think about the situation, the comments are from Middle East residents, club owners etc. The first couple of paras are on the RS website:

it looks like we can't read the whole article without someone in the UAE or GCC mailing us the mag. would you mind passing on some of the insights?

Aziza, can you scan the article and upload it here?? ideally, i'd like to have a copy of RS from the ME . . . I'd like to see how it differs from RS in the States. :)

The US issue with Eminem on the cover didn't have the belly dance story :-(
