    Bab'Aziz - a Sufi Dervish tribute

Bab'Aziz - The Prince Who Contemplated His Soul (directed by Nacer Khemir, 2005) is a delightful movie (spoken in Farsi) about an old blind dervish who wanders the desert with his granddaughter, Ishtar, in search of a great reunion of dervishes that takes place once every thirty years. On their way, he tells Ishtar a tale of a prince, which is the story of his own life.
Whithin its Sufi philosophy, the movie takes us to the enchanted lands of Tunisia and Iran, where it was recorded, showing beautiful dances, music and poetry of Rumi.

    The soundtrack is also recommended:

I already bought the dvd and the cd! Has anyone else seen it?

I have the DVD and also purchased two other DVD of movies by the same producer with similar mystical themes.

They are a bit incomprehensible because they use so much symbolism that it is hard to understand what the true meaning of the story is just based on the sub titles. The Cinematography is incredibly beautiful and the films are worth watching even if they are hard to understand.

I started watching it- this is such a beautiful movie! Beautifully shot too- and also features a short Banjara dance section as well.
