Thread: Learn to dance Khaleegy

Hello everyone,

Just purchased CD "Learn to dance Khaleegy" by Amera. Personally, I like it. Does anyone else own it? What do you guys think about it? Just wanted some opinions.

I also like it. She includes a pretty good amount of material, some of which I had never learned in the khaleeji dance of my old troupe, such as all the hand gestures.

A friend and I had learned a bit of khaleeji style from a little workshop we attended, and when I got this DVD we felt confident enough to use what we had learned (mostly from the DVD; forgot most of the workshop stuff) to put together a choreography that we performed at an event last month.

That is so cool! I think Amera is pretty knowledgeable about this dance. I live in the Gulf, so I figured I need to know it LOL. It is also interesting to observe variations of khaleegy in UAE, Bahrain, Qatar, Saudi, etc... Women would add their own flavor to it. Mine I would say is somewhat playful and carefree kind.

I would love to attend khaleegy workshop. Here they don't give you workshops, but I am pretty observant of women at the parties lol

A few weeks ago Samasem included khaleej steps&stylings from Ameera in a teacher training session,and I was delighted:)

Thank you so much for the links! It is so true that khaleegy dance really is different in various parts of the Gulf, even different towns may have their own variations. I know that in UAE and Saudi it is quite different. Omanis do not swish their hair like they do in UAE. Well, I have seen ladies at the parties who utilize combination of moves.
