    Tahtil Shibbak on Youtube

    Hey all,
There was a thread a while back, it may have been o n the old Bhuz, of someone who compiled dancers performing to Tahtil Shibbak. It had Jillina, Rania, Dina, a whole bunch of daners on it! I tried to search youtube with all the different spellings to the song and can't find very many and I can't figure out what I am doing wrong! ,m::
SO does anyone have that thread or can search better than I!?
I like the search for a song and see different interpretations. Its fun!
    XOXO,
    -NJ

    Oh, that was me!

I was up to 11, but it looks like a couple of them have become 'unavailable.' (Jillina and Rania). I wonder if I should remove them from my playlist, or if they could magically return?

Yeah it looks like whomever uploaded those has a suspended account! Eek!
So is there is there way to subscribe to your playlist instead of making them all "favorites"?

Does it have to be someone famous? I love this interpretation, in fact it's my favorite because it's so different. I think this girl's from Spain.

Do you mean her performance is heavily choreographed?

sort of. i think she's just doing too many movements. i'm just not of the school where people put a movement to every little beat. I think less is more with a song like that.

I really like Hiba's interpretation of it.

I agree. It's more powerful and shows that you can interact with the the music when you accent occasionally and when you really mean it.

I usually try to refrain from offering a constructive criticism on a video that wasn't solicited by a performer, but I think one of the major problems is that she is literally dancing to the rhythm of every word in that song...if that makes any sense.

I like them all, and I'm adding them all to my playlist. It's really fun to see the variety in the interpretation.

Reyhan's is my favorite, and I LOVE Hiba (though I like her accordian baladi even more than this one) but the Spanish dancer has lovely technique and great moves, and her performance does make a nice change of pace. I like that she has her own style -- most dancers try too hard to be Dina when they dance to this song.

If you did any less than this, you'd just be standing there...

You took the words right out of my mouth.
I really like all of these performances and they're all wonderful dancers. But I think I like the spanish dancer best because her interpretation is so different. The others are lovely as well, (by others I mean many others that I've seen aside from the ones here) but they all look the same to me, same moves and same accents always at the same places.
I wouldn't necessarily dance this song like the spanish dancer does, but I like that hers doesn't look like the "reglamentary" choreography to Tahtil Shibbak.

    Regards
    Priscilla

Hi folks - you make me blush...thanks

As for the dress it is nothing special just a simple Tully (I think also called Assuit). It is the very traditional black with silver and the color reflections come from the stage lights.

The secret is, I love those Galabiya types, they cover me being overweight.
Sometimes I feel like the moon....

Lauren, You make a great point! Each dancer has to develop her or his own style!!! But there are a lot of Dina dance style dancers out there. No offense to those who love Dina and copy what she does. I've just noticed it on watching performances on youtube, etc.

I think it's the gum chewing throughout the performance that makes this for me. :)

Seriously though, I really love seeing these older clips.

Did you notice the thumbnails of other youtube clips that appear on the bottom of the first clip posted in this thread? They also include some 'Tahtil Shibbak' interpretatons. Scroll your mouse over the bottom of the Spanish dancer's clip and look at 'Anaisis Bellydance with sagats' and 'Tahtil Shibak - Najla'.
