What's the secret?
I've just been watching Sonya's performance of Gathering Storm. What is she doing with the the green veil?

Re: What's the secret?
Looks like voi, AKA veil poi. It's a fusion of traditional Polynesian poi technique and belly dance veil.

WOW! quite magical!
Stifling an urge to dance is bad for your health - it rusts your spirit and your hips.

Re: What's the secret?
it's piano wire. Very thin and flexible. And when it's moving, it's pretty much invisible.
She does spin very nicely.

Re: What's the secret?
LOL - Don't get me wrong. I think it's a beautiful performance, but it reminded me of when I was a kid making napkin ghosts and flying them around on a piece of thread.

Re: What's the secret?
Thank you for the kind words! Actually it is not wire. It's a nylon cord, very soft, so it can be concealed in my hand. I got my inspiration for this thru Aziza of Montreal... and I have another video, shorter little entrance voi-piece on my website, since things I post on youtube get stolen & reposted with others claiming to be me. So just on my site now:

Re: What's the secret?
I'd love to learn how to do this.
Is there a DVD that teaches the technique?I'd like to give you some moral advice, but I have questionable morals.

Re: What's the secret?
I did think that wire might cut the veil, what kind of nylon thread is it? And is it run through a hem all the length of the veil or just attached to each end? It's so fascinating!
