Many Dancers - One Song - Do any of you build these kinds of youtube playlists?
So a thread a while back on different interpretations of Lessa Fakir prompted me to build a playlist of some different interpretations of that song performed by different dancers that I liked:
Lessa Fakir - YouTube
I'm curious, do any of you do this as well? Are there songs that you have made youtube playlists of you'd like to share? Want to contribute a suggestion for one of my playlists? I also didplaylists for:
Alf Leila We Leila

Andah Aleik

Hawa Sahih

It's actually a good idea. I've never gotten around to doing actual playlists but I've saved some things in my favorites. What about the big musical numbers?
Versions of:
Sit El Hosen or Princess of Cairo
Mashaal
Nagwa

ooo! yes! Now you've given me a little project to do, Norma.
I thought other dancers might also be making these kinds of list too, but I guess not too many, at least no one on Bhuz that is willing to share so far.Shems - www.shemsdance.com

I havent built actual playlists although i do like to do searches on songs that i like alot and compare and contrast. Thanks for shraing yours! Many times i will stumble upon songs that i was looking for but didnt find much later by accident, like with videos that dont list the song or with Russian or Ukranian videos where i don't read the language. I love to see how different people interpret the music in their own way.

I love looking at how different dancers that I admire interpret the same piece of music. One of the things that I've wanted to do for ages is to invite a bunch of local dancers to an informal (closed to the public) gathering, and have everyone there dance to the same music. I would love to see local dancers (troupe-mates and not) all dance to the same music, back to back. I think it would be totally fascinating.
What I'm thinking is to invite 8-12 dancers (all pro level or very advanced) and have everyone vote on the music- something available on iTunes, so it would be inexpensive to obtain. Then a few weeks later (perhaps a month), we all get together with snacks, beverages, and take turns presenting our interpretations.

There was something like that done on bhuz for a while. Dancers used the same song and posted a video of their interpretation.

I have a Lissa Fakir playlist...Probably very similar to yours, Shems.

If you do a search for a song and then where it says "filter" drop down and select playlists, you will see all the other playlists for your search terms. According to my search there are 5 playlists on page 1 that are for Lissa Fakir."East coast girls are hip." ~ The Beach Boys, 1965

I do have one such playlist, mainly because I love the song and am trying to figure out what it is. In fact if anyone can help me ID it, please do tell! :-)
