Please Help... need music/advice for an Egyptian wedding!
I have to get my music to the DJ asap (wedding is sunday) and I'm still trying wrap my head around what are good songs for the audience dancing part. Thing is, this will be my first Egyptian wedding (I am primarily a Turkish dancer, but client knew this when they hired me! lol) and the bride really stresses the upbeat songs (really wants me energetic - no "slow" dancing lol). She wants me to dance my set no more than 15 minutes than the other half of the 30 minutes getting everyone dancing. She REALLY wants that, and really upbeat :0) No problem, but I'm at a loss with what pop songs are appropriate, or popular nowadays. Please help! Those of you who have lots of experience with Egyptian weddings, what would you recommend and any other words of advice?
So far my set looks like this:
Entrance- Alf Leyla Wa Leyla - Cairo Orchestra (request)
veil - Noor El Ein - Amr Diab (request)
Shik Shak shok - hassan abou el seoud
a 2:30 min drum solo
And then the songs to get them up and dancing....
El Salam - Hakim (request)
...And I need at least 2 more!
Someone recommended "El Hantour" by Amiina, but then another warned me the lyrics my be inappropriate for a conservative audience. Have yet to look into that myself, but what are the general thoughts on that one?
I also was thinking Lawn Oyounak (by Nancy Ajram).
Thanks so much!
