Video's from "Tarab Show" Athens
Hi all
Just managed to upload some video's of the "Tarab Show" that we had on Sunday night.
Me and Prince Kayammer formed this show dedicated to the people that love arabic dance.
The atmosfaire at "Allh Oxthi" was great, (you can see in video's also) and the place was overpacked, as it was SOLD OUT. A mix of greek audience, bellydance community, egyptian embassy and syrian embassy was there.
We have made 3 small video's in general of the show programme (2.5 hours was a big show lol), and we decided to upload 3 whole choreo's of each one. Mine are online, Prince have uploaded till now the Tahteb one and the drum solo, and havent decided to the third one .
Hope you enjoy it also

Re: Video's from "Tarab Show" Athens
Maria,
I found these videos on YouTube last week and just have to say that I luuuuuv your style. You are a Balady Saint! An Empress of Balady! And I love the fact that you have enthusiastic audience members who love what you do.
Wanted to ask you about the music in the balady number above. I recognized a ney taqsim and Mawaal Sahibi from Fatme Serhan. Did you edit several pieces together or did you fnd a single track with that length. The version of Mawaal Sahibi from Queen of Balady is just 2:40 and seems to have been cut abruptly.
Keep those videos coming!!!

Hi Souzan :)
Thank you for your comments, we loved also the show and the audience also, who was the Egyptian Ambassador and their company and the Syrian Ambassador and company, the place was full of bodyguards outside lol
The baladi part is from Fatme CD but i used the mediamaker to connect the pieces as i loved this part very much.
Some years ago I saw Khalled Mahmoud dancing it and I was in tears... I always wanted to do it and Tarab show was the perfect place.
Thanks again
Maria Aya :)

Congratulations Maria! I hope your show's success gives you faith that there's still plenty of people out there who really love good old Middle Eastern dance (without the bells, whistles, and overdeveloped abs!). Your baladi dance was gorgeous - it's a style that really suits you (or the other way around). YOu looked like you were having so much fun by the end there, I couldn't help but smile and jig along in my seat.
Ed: Oh, now I've watched Prince K I'd say there were some tricks and abs. But at least no stilts or firetwirling!Last edited by jewelbellydance; 01-29-2008 at 02:36 AM.

Maria, I love the music and you did a nice job of meshing the pieces togther for it. I tried doing just that yesterday and still have a choppy editing bit that I have to take care of. I have an Aida Nour workshop CD that also has all the pieces split up into 4 different tracks. Not speaking Arabic, however, I am afraid of putting things together that are nonsense to an Arabic speaker. But it is fun being creative with the music. Again, I really love your performance!!

Sensational dancing Maria I have always loved your dancing, via the videos you so graciously share. And Prince Kayammer I just adored too, what an inspiration you both are.

Re: Video's from "Tarab Show" Athens
Thank you all for the great comments :)
No problem Anala for using anything from these video's.
Me and Prince Kayammer we believe that what is tought or on video can be used also :)
Right now we are touring Greece with Prince Kayammer (this weekend we were at Crete - Heraklion, just came from airport and as the addicted person i am i went straight to orientaldancer and bhuz lol) and we had a weekend full of workshops and the "Tarab Show" again.
We are both so happy as we were watching and listening to the students (all dancers or teachers) to be so happy and telling us how much things they learned in the weekend and how much opening for their minds it was.
Prince Kayammer tought Shaaby choreo, Rythms combinations and Drum solo, i tought History and Theory on Oriental dance (not dance), exploring arabian music throu instruments (dance) and Andalusian (dance).
We had a wonderfull organizer Malek that did a great job.
Thanks again
Maria Aya..g.:
p.s. the music we used in the opening was instrumental Esmaooni that I got from a workshop with Mahmoud Reda something like 4 years ago (but as the CD's that teachers give in Egypt are copies I unfortunately dont know in which CD it is in)
