Thread: Hafla's in the Portland OR area?

Does anyone know of any Hafla's/shows in the Portland Oregon area? I am having a hard time finding the info online and such. I would love to attend and check out the styles of teaching in the area for when I get done with the class I am currently taking.

There is always live music and dancers at It's a Beautiful Pizza Wed nights at 9:00p, live music at Pasha's on Thur nights, Mummy's dance night on Sat nights at 8:30p. I could ask around give you more info if I knew dates.

Saqra's Showcase is a great place to see lots of dancing, and also great for shopping and hanging out. There are workshops and chances to schmooze with friends. Bring food, they never seem to have any on-site. I will be there playing in the "composite" band both Sat. & Sun. and also dancing at some point (I think).

Thanks guys! I don't know any dancers here in Portland and it seems like the dance community is a bit hidden. I just haven't had much luck with finding stuff on the web. I am hoping that if I go to a few events, I will hear about more.

I saw this and was hoping that I could go. I would love to do one of the workshops. Do you think any of them is geared/doable for beginners?

Added: I would love to do the drum solo one on Friday evening. I just am not sure of the level. I can pretty much keep up with the BDSS Art of the Drum Solo with Sonia if that helps.

What are you interested in working on? Almost any of them would offer something, especially to a beginner. And I think you could keep up as well as be challenged by the drum solo workshop.

Aradia is one of the instructors, she is on bhuz, you could email her directly to ask about her classes - they sound really good.

Aneena is fabulous and you shouldn't have any trouble with her drum solo workshop.
