Sure is! The Sister's of Salome dance troupe perform at various restaurants throughout the city. Krys and Ahmae (main part of the sisters) also teach classes at the Crescent Lotus Dance Studio. If you go to the crescent lotus website and click on Krys she has a small schedule at the bottom. There is no dancing any longer at Jericho's though. Hookah Cafe is (a hookah bar) and Attiki (a restaurant) are both in the Quarter other restaurants are scattered throughout. They also offer a lot of tribal classes, but I can't speak for anyone other than Krys and Ahmae, as I haven't taken classes with anyone else. ..g.:

n.o.madic tribal generally performs on Friday night at the Dragon's Den on Esplanade. They used to teach regular classes, but stopped after Katrina. Two of the main dancers, Ali and Amy, danced with Carolena's protege, Megha when she lived in New Orleans and had Devyani there. They've also taken workshops with numerous other tribal dancers around the country.

Nomadic is tribal and the Sisters are Cabaret. I'll have to think about some different recommendations. If you don't like heat and humidity either come really soon (like in May) or wait until maybe October/November? ,r:; If you don't mind being very hot, then anytime is good. For cabaret, most out of towners perform at the Hookah (of course that means contacting Krys and scheduling something out). We just passed our little fest season, French Quarter Fest, Jazz Fest, ect.

For shopping, if you like wigs and makeup, I would check out Fifi Mahoney's in the quarter, I always end up stopping by when I'm in the area. Kruz has some eastern/bellydance stuff (hip scarves, music, jewelery), but he can be a little expensive. It's worth stopping by though. Pharoah's Den has some hip scarves and hookah stuff. We don't have any real caberet costume shops though, most are the icky cone bra souvenir stuff. If you do beading there is a little shop right by the French Market near Esplanade, they've got lots of folk art stuff and tons of beads. Hmmm...

Restaurants, well, that's a whole thesis, what price range/type of food do you like? There are some really great expensive restaurants ($25 to $30 a plate) (which are still cheaper than expensive restaurants in other parts of the country) which are amazing! I almost forgot Petunia's, they have the best breakfast. You have to go to Pat O's bar and have a hurricane of course...

Hotels, I recommend staying in the quarter. The Monteleone and the Omni, are central and beautiful. Hmm having trouble remembering where I've stayed and had family stay...

Let me know if you have more questions! ..g.:
