Thread: Veil Trix and Ooey Gooey Taxim Workshops with Sonya, May 17th! (IL)

Registration is open now for two fabulous specialty workshops on
Saturday May 17th with award-winning dancer Sonya of Arabesque Chicago!

10:30am-Noon
*NEW* VEIL TRIX TECHNIQUE WORKSHOP
The slinky veil work you love can be learned in this technique
workshop for the intermediate/ advanced level dancer. Bring your
favorite veils (minimum 3 yards in length). We will discuss the pros &
cons of different sizes, shapes, fabrics & weights. Class will feature
a great upper body stretching regimen that can be executed in a tight
space, perfect for before or after a veil performance. Arm positions
will be reinforced, importance of the overall look and feeling of the
veil dance enhanced while we get a great upper body & arm workout.
Please wear typical dance/workout attire (NOT velvet, as it can
'stick' to the veil) & a non-coined hip scarf if you'd like (coin
edges can snag the veil). Handout included. $22 residents/$25
non-residents.

OOEY GOOEY TAXIM TECHNIQUE WORKSHOP
Build fluidity and continuity within your dance in this technique
workshop! Geared for the intermediate dancer & above, we focus on
belly dance movements/isolation s, transitions and improvisational
methods as you visually express what you hear in the music. This class
promises to be quite a workout while honing your ultimate muscle
isolation/control. Please wear typical dance/workout attire (please,
no pants that are baggy around the knee area) & a quiet hip scarf.
Handout included. $22 residents/$25 non-residents.

Workshops are held at the Oakbrook Terrace Fitness Center, 1 Parkview
Plaza, Oakbrook Terrace, IL 60181. The Fitness Center is just west of
the Rt 83/22nd Street intersection. You can register by phone
(630)574-0420 or in person. If you call between 9:30 and 4:00 ask for
Luann (if you call in the evening, leave a voicemail with your daytime
number)...but they have promised to get the front desk staff up to
