Thread: Northern Lights Belly Dance Festival - WI

Hope you guys all have a great time. I'm coming next year!! :ctr::cr:

Just back from Northern Lights... fabulous gathering of all kinds of dancers. The workshops I took were great... I spent too much money in the vendors' room... and the show! Well, my back thought it was too long to sit in a hotel chair... but what a variety of dancing! I think my favorite for spectacular dancing was Aliyah Sahar. The best performance vibes came from Nilaja! And Donna, what great zilling! Nobody zills like that these days (okay, except for Morocco) -- I sure wish somebody in my town were teaching a regular zill class. We saw great tribal (ATS and fusion), great dance theater, mesmerizing goth moves... whew!

I came home and had to have a nap immediately. Good heavens. That's my last workshop for the year, and what a doozy!

I could probably sleep for 2 more days! Holy smokes! What a weekend!

Thank you to everyone who made this an extremely enjoyable weekend. I hope everyone had a great time. The venue was simply incredible. Top notch instructors, participants, organizers, vendors and show (if I do say so myself :)
Thanks for your kind words Tiger B. I was a last min insertion into the show. I had to fill a hole where a performance once was. Not only a show director...but show hole filler too. I want a bedlah with a super girl emblem on it :)

I had a fantastic time. Can you believe that that was my second time there, I have now spent a total of 4 days there and have STILL yet to see the indoor water park!?!?! That place is HUGE!

Several of us were discussing that on the way out... "did you make it to the water park? no? Me neither! you? you?" Nobody we talked to had!

But I did have a lovely lovely massage. And a great pedicure. I think ALL bd festivals should be held at places with spas!!!

Nilaja, you and entire NLBD Fest Organizaers are AWESOME!!! I had the Bestest Time!!! A Thousand Thank-Yous to you Lovely Ladies (and Gents... Oh, & Happy Belated BDay to the Salamander:)). I'm all starry-eyed from the show performers and workshop instructors who basically just RAK'd out, Babyyyy!!! I CANNOT WAIT 'TIL NEXT YEAR--I raved to the hubby-habibti as soon as I got home (@ around 1:30a.m.!) and got him all jazzed up & now he wants to go!!! So, next year Chris'll be there, too!!! YEA!!!

Is there another word to describe bigger than "huge"??? I got lost just trying to find our event that 1st morning...almost registered for a Dental Hygienist Convention!!! ..l;,

HAHAHAHAHA!!!! That cracked me up!!!! You know.. I sold 2 hip scarves to some dental hygienists :) No one can resist the bling. Yay, Im glad Chris wants to come next year! Bill had a blast! he even went over to Ho-Chunk..and won some money :)

If I remember correctly, last year the scrapbookers who were at the same venue as Northern Lights did a bit of shopping of their own, and a couple even ditched the scrapbookers to sign up for OUR classes!

I had a great time at Northern Lights this year. The organizers provided an amazing experience. The workshops were challenging and lots of fun, and I am SO inspired now. My mind was spinning with gazillions of new ideas for performance on the 3+ hour drive home to Chicagoland!! Yeah!!

I think Saturday nite was one of the best bellydance shows I've seen. Aliyah was on fire! Misha and Ayperi rak'd, Ariellah was electrifyingly intense. And Isidora is just incredible!! There were so many other great performances, everyone was at the top of their game.

Shira, I missed ya! I really enjoyed talking with you last year and wish you could have made it. I remember the scrapbookers that signed up for the workshops. Hee hee, can you blame them? Scrapbooking pales in comparison to a weekend of bellydancing fun! There was also a sign on the visitor center in downtown Cable WI that said "Welcome Bellydancers and Scrapbookers" which I found slightly amusing. ..l;,

I was only able to make it for one of the Sat. morning workshops. Unfortunately was unable to go to the show. Is it possible to order the DVD of the show?

I got really sick and couldn't make it! :( Some of my students said they were going, though, did anyone run into any of them? I wish I could have been there!
