Thread: 2008 Midwest Bellydance Challenge 8/23 (IL) **UPDATE!**

We're well underway and I'm so excited about this year's competition! I'm delighted to announce that ALL CATEGORIES have met the minimum registration and will run.

Dancers from IL, WI, MO, MI, IA, MN, NE, OH, and NJ have registered! ..g.:

Student Soloist: 5 contestants ($250 dance scholarship and trophies)
Tribal Soloist: 8 contestants ($250 cash prize, sash and trophies)
Troupe: 5 troupes (trophies for all troupe members)
Pro Cabaret Soloist: 14 contestants ($500 cash prize, sash, tiara,and trophies)

Registration will be open through July 15th for those still wishing to join the fun! Vendors and volunteers I WANT YOU! An update is coming soon to shimmychicago.com with hotel/motel info, "meet the judges" and more!

I've got a quick question, Kim.

How do us Pro competitors know if we should buy a ticket to the evening show or not, since we don't know if we'll be competing again that night in advance? Or do you mean that if you are a Pro competitor in the daytime events, you would get in without a ticket whether you are a semifinalist or not?

I don't know why I'm so worried, as the chances of me making into the semi-finals are roughly the same as monkeys flying out of my butt (but would they count as a prop, LOL?) But I just want to make sure I have a seat at the evening show either way. :-)

The pro competitors do not need a ticket for the evening show--y'all are taken care of

The monkeys flying out of your butt don't count as a prop if they only make an entrance -- you have to actually interact with them onstage for a bit to get prop points. And no matter how many monkeys you produce, they only count as a single prop.

They will, however, need tickets if they're going to watch the show.

I would love to see how Galatea interacts with the monkey's so she can get her prop points.

If you don't want to pay for a show ticket for your monkey's, maybe you could have them fly back in to your butt during your finale.
