Re: Bad Places To Work
I just wanted to add that dancers' unions have been known to fight against racial discrimination; there was a case with the Washington Ballet a few years ago.
We are often judged pretty superficially, but I think venue owners and other procurers of dancers should realize that certain comments and hiring/firing practices raise a lot of concerns.

Re: Bad Places To Work
Have we named the place yet?
I'll say it: It's never easy reading these threads and not leaving a comment b/c a previous teacher of mine would make such harsh remarks as 'well not all belly dancers have to be dark skinned and thin' as she glared at me and the rest of the class would stare....As a BD'er of color who just moved to chicago....i'd rather not give that establishment my money... racism is racism...and it's true, we never know what type of business owners we're giving our hard earned money to each time we all go out to dine...
