Thread: A Day of Belly Dance in Delaware

Hello everyone! My mom and I are putting on a day of workshops and a show this fall. Here is all the info.

All events will take place on Saturday September 13

Devadasi costumes will be selling during all the workshops and the show. Devadasi carries top notch cabaret costumes from Egypt and Turkey, Sharif Wear, numerous CDs and DVDs, jewelry, veils, hipscarfs, pretty much everything.

THE SHOW
I would really like to use this show to promote and showcase local performers, teachers, and students. I (Shahrzad) will also be performing.
Doors open at 6:30pm
Show starts at 7:30pm and ends at around 9:00pm
Admission is $10 but children under 5 get in for free.


For people interested in performing:
I am opening up a number of spots in the show to anyone who would like to perform. I ask that solos be done only by professionals and advanced students. A lot of people want spots and we have a limited amount of time. However, student groups of any level are welcome! The performance space will be a fairly large theater stage (raised about 4 feet). WORKSHOPS


Moves from Egypt

10:30am – 12:30pm

$25.00

Dinah will be teaching moves and combinations used by Egypt's top belly dancers. In this workshop you will strengthen your Egyptian technique while learning tips and tricks that will enhance your dancing!

This workshop is open to beginner to advanced level dancers. Previous belly dance experience is recommended.





Drum Solo 101

1:30pm-4:00pm

$25.00

Learn everything you need to know about drum solos! Shahrzad will be teaching the moves, personality, and musicality that make for dynamic and exciting drum solos. She will be covering moves, layering, combinations, and a short choreography.

This workshop is open to beginner to advanced level dancers. Previous belly dance experience is recommended.





Intro to Belly Dance

4:30pm-5:30pm

$15.00

Never learned Egyptian belly dance? Want to try it? This is the perfect opportunity! Shahrzad will teach all the basic moves while explaining some of the fitness benefits of the dance. This workshop is also great for dancers who want to brush up on their core technique. Anyone can attend this workshop, no previous dance training of any kind is required.
