Raks Spooki III: A Gothic Belly Dance Event

Workshop: Nouveau Noir 12:00pm-2:00pm
Haunting audiences around the globe, Tempest’s area of specialty within the realm of Gothic Bellydance is “Nouveau Noir” – dance pieces that reflect the art and society of the early 1900’s, pulling from silent films, vaudeville-Denishawn style, art nouveau, art deco, and the Oriental craze. Students will learn combinations that capture the elegant form, fluid movement, and dramatic stylings of these eras, while being taught in a format that will enable them to absorb them into their own personal choreographies. Suitable for all levels and style of dancer, and no, it is not at all necessary to be a goth to benefit from this workshop--a spirit of exploration is the most important qualification. Her first workshop here in 2006 was a sell-out, so be sure to register early!

Gothic Hafli, 3:30pm-6:30pm: Join some of New England’s finest gothic belly dancers as they present their unique visions of dance! Also featuring open floor dancing with DJ Lost Boy and vendors of dark and decadent dance gear.

I am really disappointed this is the same weekend as Rak East because it sounds like fun! :o)

Oh that rundown makes my dark little heart sing! How I would LOVE to be part of this spookfest!

I know, I'm disappointed that I will miss out on Rakassah myself--but it was the best free weekend up here, so what can you do

The performance roster was full by the time I checked my email this morning--it's going to be a great show with some familiar faces and some new faces! Still have room for some vendors, if anyone's interested...
