Thread: New Orleans and Mississippi.....?

Hey guys!

Heres the lowdown, my mother has never gotten to see me dance, (sooo sad) but she lives in Gulfport, Mississippi (i am either in Phoenix, Chicago, or Spain). I was just wondering what the dance scene is down there. I might be down there some time in december I'm not sure if there are any regular haflas or performance opportunities. :o) any information is helpful. Thanks ladies!!!

I could be wrong, but I don't think there's a large community in southern Mississippi. In New Orleans, there are several teachers. Krys of Crescent Lotus is who I take from (you can check the website Crescent Lotus Dance - Home Page). There aren't really many performance opportunities like haflas, but there are several places in New Orleans with dancing. Byblos on Thursdays and Jamila's on Saturdays of the top of my head.

December 13 there's gonna be a showcase in Baton Rouge, you should contact the ladies at Bayou Shimmy, hope to help :)
