Thread: Midwest Bellydance Challenge 8/25 **LINEUP**

Sorry for the extra thread, I wanted to make sure everyone hears....


REGISTRATION IS OPEN, GET YOUR SPOT NOW FOR THE FIRST ANNUAL MIDWEST BELLYDANCE CHALLENGE!!!!

There are two options for paying the fee:
1) send a check along with your registration form
2) Pay by PayPal directly to kim_bova@yahoo.com (a PayPal cart for fees and tickets is coming but will take a few more days due to technical difficulties)

PLEASE NOTE:
The registration form requires a signature--you must print it out, fill it out, sign it and send it to me! I will confirm your registration by email.

I'm gonna do it. I don't think I have a chance in hell of winning -- heck, it'll take me all summer just to work up something that won't embarass me on a competition stage!

But that's why I think I'll do it. I think if I commit to this, I'll practice my fool head off for a couple of months and my skills will really grow. Then getting some (hopefully) specific feedback from the judges on why I *still* suck will give me stuff to work on for years to come!

Way to go, Lauren! Very brave, and all so true! (Though, don't be so sure you don't have a chance in winning - you might be up for a pleasant surprise). Still - it'll be a great experience however you place.

I sent my check and registration form in today via snail mail! I am so looking forward to my first competition experience, and the judges feedback especially. I'm already working on something really nice for the open stage at the IBDC, and now it can even be a "test drive" for the Midwest Challenge.

Kim, I must commend you for the wonderfully thought out and precise scoring guidelines - it really helps to know what the judges will be looking for, even though monkeys flying out of my butt is more likely than me winning something. :bat::bat::bat:

Thanks so much for the enthusiastic response!! Five dancers signed up today by PayPal and I will be visiting my P.O. Box every day...PLEASE don't wait to send in a registration if you are interested!! I'll update on shimmychicago.com, Bhuz and tribe when the contestant slots are all filled.

Crap, I put mine in the mail yesterday evening, before I realized that PayPal was an option. I don't think it will take more than a day or so for the check to get there from Milwaukee, but if it does, might you count the postmark on the envelope? Just in case it comes down to the wire? Pleeeeeeaze? *bats eyelashes*

I didn't realize paypal was active either. Mine went in the mail yesterday.

I'll be sending email tonight to all the contestants that have either paid by PayPal or sent in via snail mail and will hit the P.O. Box first thing tomorrow morning too.

I'm delighted to announce that the soloist category is completely filled--I have registered 15 dancers from the states of Illinois, Wisconsin, Arizona and Iowa. This is going to be a FANTASTIC show!!

All contestants will get an email this week with more details, I'll attach the scoring criteria and contest rules documents from the website on yours. Other than that, preparations are being made, additional prizes are being gathered ..g.: , program ads and tickets are being sold...it's all good!
