Thread: 2009 Monthly Sphinx Haflas (IL)

The monthly Sphinx Haflas (at Mango) continue in 2009!
This will be our 6th year!!!..g.:

So I just wanted to share the information:

Sphinx Haflas are the 1st Saturday of each month held at Mango.
They are designed for the Chicago-area BellyDance Community to network.
(out of town bellydancers are also Always welcome to perform)
The Haflas are made up of different instructors and their students,
solos & groups,
veils & sword,
1st time performer -to- pro, etc. . . .

The Haflas are at:
Mango! (formerly- Sphinx Cafe)- 8743 Milwaukee Ave in Niles
(se corner of 14 & 21) 847-967-0030

Admission is $20 and includes:
*Dinner Buffet
*BellyDance Show
*Program
*Open Dancing

They are from 6:30-10pm on the 1st Saturday of EVERY month.

I am limited in the number of performers for each Hafla,
so please feel free to reserve your performing spot for any of the 2009 dates.
(sometime students will reserve in advance for holiday break,
or instructors will reserve in advance for a date near the end of a choreography class and use the Sphinx Hafla as a 'final class project')

It's not too early!
I will be holding a pertformance spot for the Dancers of Dunia for March.
Jawhara's group will also be performing in March!

Oooo yay! I'm going to make it my mission to attend at least one before April! How exciting!

Hey, Mahira! I heard from Saayidah (Rowena) that you were absolutely WONDERFUL in how you never missed a step/beat the whole time! Totally professional! Look forward to dancing at the January 2009 Sphinx Hafla and seeing ya! Miss ya, been too long...Have a lovely holiday season and see ya next year! Hehehe

Chiming in with how amazingly Mahira handled the hair malfunction. If someone had walked in 3 seconds after you got the hairpiece out, they'd have never even known you's had a problem. Bravo, habibi!

I heard about it too :) And heard how you were wonderful, professional, graceful and amazing!

Hey Kara, I think I'm coming in solo, too.

Zayna, do you think Mango (and yes, it IS Mango now -- I saw the sign!) is sold out for Saturday night? I don't want to make a reservation for one or two. Would rather horn in on somebody else's reservation.

I was asked last minute to perform last night and I cheerfully excepted. I had a really good time. It was nice to see everyone again. Amanda, always a pleasure.
