LEBANESE TECHNIQUE AND COMBINATIONS

Discover Lebanese rhythms in music and dances (like debke) you may not know. Add exciting new footwork, level changes and spins that will excite your audience. Lebanese dance style uses more dramatic elements with elegant poses, stage patterns, direction changes, and ballet influenced movement and spins. Take these new moves into your dancing for clean, professional looking results. What to bring: Heeled dance shoes (does not have to be high), non-noisy hip scarf.

DRUM SOLO
2:30pm-4:30pm

Hot Drum Solo and percussion shimmies! Lotus takes a "wicked" drum solo song and adds spice to stir it up. Always the audience's favorite, the drum solo is a fun and essential part of the belly dance routine. Never be afraid of complex and complicated drum solos again! Using pure isolations to explore ways to capture the audience's attention, create the WOW factor by learning framing, accents, creative movement, level changes, and building energy. Fine tune your shimmy technique, use complex hipwork, layers, expression and add some new elements that will take your audience by surprise!
*What to bring: A fringe or non-noise making hip belt and crop shirt.

Lotus Niraja not only teaches advanced and professional level bellydance but is an accomplished local and
national performance artist.* Her dance specialty is Modern Egyptian and urban, contemporary bellydance and is also the artistic director and choreographer of The Niraja Dance Company (NDC).*
As a teacher and mentor Lotus*combines performance technique with stage dynamics in order to give a polished performance.*She helps focus on stage presence, refinement, audience participation, arm grace, and crisp hip work.* Her motto is always heard in each class, "Don't dance like me, dance what is inside your heart. Take your personality, soul, whether playful or serious and dance and create yourself."*
