Sha'ni! She's fabulous and teaches out by Emory and of the best no-nonsense but super fun teachers in the area. Sha'ni:: Middle Eastern Dance Artist I think.

Had to throw out this shameless plug too... Morocco will be just 1 1/2 hours south of Atlanta in Warner Robins April 24-26 Discover Your Dance! - Mary

In addition to to Shan'i (who is wonderful), I would also recommend

    Gina Gina Raks

Aziza Nawal Aziza Nawal :: World Dance Artist

Diane Adams Belly Dancing Classes Atlanta, GA - Company Mezza » Instruction

All four of them are not only fabulous dancers, but great teachers, and cool people! If it wasn't such a drive, I would love to take with any of them!!

    :)

Oooo, I went to a workshop of hers once!
Sadly, I think she only teaches workshops at the moment, but it would be neat to take her class if I could. :)

I thinks she is still teaching a few classes (she slipped my mind in the first post), so check out her website as well.

I've been studying with Diane Adams for three years, and recommend her highly! She does teach a variety of styles in her classes, with challenging choreographies. If you wanted to focus strictly on Egyptian style, you may want to consider a private with her, her rate are very reasonable.

I highly reccomend Diane Adams (Belly Dancing Classes Atlanta, GA - Company Mezza), Aziza Nawal (CrucialDomains - This is Your Chance to Own azizaraks.com), Shani (Sha'ni:: Middle Eastern Dance Artist) and Gina. However, Gina has taken a break from teaching while she is recovering from an injury.

It really depends on where you live. Shani teaches on the South side, and Aziza, Gina, and Diane are more north Atlanta.

If you are near Decatur you may also want to check out Samora Belly Dance by Samora. I havent taken class with her yet but I've heard good things and love to watch her dance. :O)

And please try to come to Black Orchid's event. It's going to be a worthwhile event.

Lastly, in October Jendyi (spell???) is sponsoring local teachers in workshops
(Atlanta Belly Palooza). This would be a great way to check out a teacher to see if you click. Diane Adams will be teaching an advanced Egyptian class (Egyptian is her prefered style).
