personally, i would love to see the routene dumped, and see what happens when he cuts loose!
what costume is left during the allegro, makes it uncomfortable to watch.
hints of greatness..want to see fre style !...want to see his soul.

Hey Zadiel, check out the festivals like Rakkasah.
Good chance to showcase your talent - although there's little chance to become a workshop teacher soon. Seems like they book their teachers long in advance.

I did it and it was fun!

    Hey zamora,

    of course i understand you.
Sometimes i love to dance freestyle but more in nice restaurants or Shisha bars where i have not much space.

On stage i prefer to dance choreographies ;-)
But the live Tabla solo in this VID is improvised.

On youtube i have a Tabla Solo video with me and tiziano where im improvize completly.

    @meissoun,

thanks a lot for your advice.
I heard about Rakkasah Festival. I write them these days.
But what is the difference between Rakassah East and West ?!
Which is bigger and which one have more visitors?
organize this the same person/ Team ?

    greetings, zadiel :-)

Yes, Raks East and West are organized by the same team. At least the setting up of instructors, etc. is. Raks West is larger. The main difference is location.

You may also want to get a hold of the organizers of Cairo Caravan (Mecda - Home Page) if you want to come to Los Angeles. And network, network, network!

Oh, and I think Zamora - and please correct me if I am wrong - meant improvised when she said freestyle. Also, really letting go and really becoming the music. *shrugs* It's fun and it's what I am currently working on.

    Thank you Tahira.
Hm freestyle/ improvising is not very difficult for an oriental (turk, lebenese or arab)

Normaly we start oriental dance with freestyle between us on weddings or turkish-events and excercise it.
People in other countrys(not oriental) started often in classes with guidelines.

So for me its not much difficult to dance freestyle and show my heart and my soul... i love it... more difficult is it to dance choreographies with emotions.
Cause the emotions choreographed too. So think i understand what Zamaro wanna tell us and i agree with her, but i like to dance and teach choreographies too.

I like to dance freestyle but never on stage. I did it few times and i was unhappy after that. I need people around me with those i can play and make fun and speak with gestures. On stage i often dont see anybody :-) There i prefer choreographies...

    Hugs from berlin, zadiel :-)

Keep in mind that I am an Improv dancer from the get go. I had a Turkish based teacher who was insistent on this. . .

One of the interesting challenges with choreography is learning to let it go. In other words, learning to start dancing the music and allowing the emotions to come forward. At a certain point, our bodies will know the music and the choreography so well that it will go into auto pilot and we, the dancer, can forget about being on stage, 'performing' because we become the dance and the music.

As I have been told many times, stop thinking, start dancing.
