    I would not. They may have changed their business plan, but based on the layout and copy on the website, I cannot imagine getting a legitimate client inquiry from his site. A bunch of icky calls and some damage to my family-friendly reputation is much more likely.

    I think its very interesting to see that some Bhuzzers have apparently already signed up for this. Their photos are already on the site.

    Personally, I wouldnt do it.... men coming there looking for strippers are NOT going to be able to differentiate between bellydancer and stripper on a STRIPPER site. Especially since all the photos of the BD'rs are sitting right next to a banner with a topless women that proclaims the "hottest, sexiest, high energy showgirls" and adds that some of the women are even "adult stars in their own film projects".

    The fact that people are so eager to get their "name out there" they would stick their photo up on a page like this... is interesting... to say the least.

    That link is blocked by my software to protect my kids and is catogerized as ponography....you really want to have your image on a site that has that as its category?

    Once you "change" your direction you should change your site. Gross!

    I think it is really interesting that he made a point to stress that none of the Dancers were Stippers. Clearly he has learned a thing or two... even if he hasn't put that knowledge into a well executed thought.

    We've had a couple of threads here now where a stripper/exotic dancer site has apparently decided to branch out and start offering Belly Dancers and other novelty acts. It seems like in the situations I recall, the owners have seemed to very clearly realize that a Belly Dancer is not offering the same services or experience as a stripper. However, even if the owner is fully cognizant of this, and they do not themselves confuse Belly Dancers with strippers, the following problems still exist for me:

    - Unlike "cigar rollers, dj's, or celebrity impersonators", I feel that my services are in many people's minds associated with exotic dancing. Because of that, I try to steer clear of anything that could even remotely connect the two. It's possible that in some cases I'm even being overly cautious, but I'm most comfortable if I err on the side of caution.

    - Many of these companies have not changed their marketing, business name or website to reflect this change in direction. I do appreciate that the owners personally are drawing a line between what we do and what strippers do - but when you have a very sexualized business identity, it's unrealistic to expect that potential clients will get the message.

    Generally speaking, my rule of thumb is that if a site is something I'd be uncomfortable with my 11 year old daughter seeing, I don't want to be associated with it in any way, shape or form. However, I also don't want to throw stones at any dancers who have a different line in the sand then I do. Everyone should be able to run their business within their own comfort zone, even if it's not something I'd personally approve of.

    *dripping sarcasm* Awwww--too bad, they don't service my area. There go my plans to rush right out and sign up. ,r:;

    Just chuck this on the ever-growing pile of "belly dancer = stripper" crap to shake our heads at. Dealt with enough of this personally this week as it is. Good grief....

    Oh I agree. I just thought it was interested that he made a point to note it himself. Like you said, it's nice to see that *HE* knows there is a difference, but someone coming to the site to buy any sort of "performer" will likely not.

    OK, checked out the belly dance section. I know "Centerfold Strips" is not something I'd want to appear across my belly dance picture. Even if someone never saw the rest of the site, that doesn't scream family-friendly.
