Last few days before the workshops . . .

The fabulous ANGELIKA NEMETH teaches two workshops in Orange County on April 4, 2009!

Workshop #1: Folkloric Styles to Enchance Your Dance" (12:30-2:30pm)
Learn to listen for and acknowledge various folk rhythms in your dance routines as well as select music and costuming for Saidi, Khaleeji, Zar and Debke. A must-do workshop for Egyptian style dancers and anyone interested in folkloric stylization. $35 by March 27, 2009* / $40 at door

Workshop #2: "Polishing Your Performance -- Now That You Know the Steps, Let's DANCE!" (3:00-4:30pm)
Using breath, phrasing, dynamics, transitions and expression, take your dance from the ordinary to the extraordinary! Although Angelika will use Egyptian stylization for demonstration purposes, this workshop is for all dancers, regardless of style! $30 by March 27, 2009* / $35 at door

Purchase one workshop and festival admission (required) is just $5; purchase both workshops and festival admission is free!

It's on the LA Raqs - Los Angeles Belly Dance homepage. I so wish I could do those workshops, but I'm subbing ZZ's class before my class on Sat and unless I find a teleporter stat, it ain't gonna work! ;)

Darn, Nasila! I was hopin' you could pop on by. (Well, if you consider 65 miles as "popping"!)

I wanna take the workshops, too, but there are these things I gotta take care of that day . . .

I will probably take the second one. SOMEONE has me slated to dance at 11:50, and I think I might need to drool over costumes for a bit before I head into a workshop. . .

BTW - Are we preforming on a stage and if so, what colour is the back drop? Wouldn't want my costume to clash! ;-)

The back wall is a medium beige-y color. My husband swags a large piece (23 yards!) of dark teal semi-sheer fabric plus some medium orange. Look kinda cool and the swag designs are different every year!

It was a great event. I never been before, I truly enjoyed the music by John Bilezikjian and his band.
Angelika's Folkloric workshop also worth coming 2 hour drive.
I made back home on time for the shows

The live music sets were really great, weren't they? And you brought the house down with your set, Dilek! My mom was very impressed.
