Thread: Artist Circle Salon featuring SEDONA in Seattle, WA!

The first Artist Circle Salon will be held on April 18th, featuring Sedona!
She is teaching "Drama Mama" from 10:00 a.m. to noon, and "Interesting Isolations" from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Alimah's dance studio in Seattle, WA. All who wish may dance for each other afterwards at our informal hafla.

What is an Artist Circle Salon? It is an opportunity to work with a masterful
performer/teacher in an environment that is both personal, feminine, and
creative. We are limiting the size of the class to 9 participants so that we will all be able to enjoy and benefit of a more personal and in depth learning experience. We will celebrate afterwards with dance, food, and drink in an informal hafla! Bring a costume and get your shimmy on!

SEDONA is the 2008 Miss Belly Dance USA, 2007 Emerald Rain Champion and 2006, Gorgeous Belly and MEDCA competitions 1st place Dancer. She is also the artistic director and co-choregorpher for the 2009 Belly Dance of the Universe Group Champions "Belly Dance Soulfire" and the 2008 Belly Dance Troupe of the Year and 2007 Belly Dance Troupe USA " Raks Awalim" She is a graduate of The American Academy of Dramatic Arts, She draws on her extensive theater arts and performance background to bring you these refreshing & fun workshops! I am attending this Artist's Circle salon with Sedona, and just wanted to put a plug in for this format. I still consider myself a "newbie, but personally I learn better with a small group than with a big workshop of 20 or more people. It's too easy to get lost in the back of a large group, trying to see movement - or be OBSERVED trying new movement for feedback. And it's the FEEDBACK that helps you excel. More immediate feedback is key to confidence and acquisition, not just repetition and body memory. Secondly, you have the option of performing for one another, with permission to try things new to you without just lapsing back into what you always do. What could be more supportive? Plus, you get to ask questions without feeling like you're taking up everyone else's time, even if you feel you learn at a different pace. If you haven't tried this format, you should give it a whirl. As for me, I'm sold on it.

And, I'm so glad you will be here at the first Artist Circle Salon!!! I appreciate your post. Those are exactly the benefits I'm trying to deliver by hosting something smaller than a workshop, but with that feminine group energy and enthusiasm! Thank you for your post!
