I'm really excited to share with you...
There will be another Arabian Nights Hookah Lounge Hafla!!

The next Hafla will be: Friday, May 15th, 8pm - ?
at: The Arabian Nights Hookah Lounge in Schaumburg!
1224B N Roselle Road
(847) 885 (SMOK)E

This is a different kind of Hafla...
there are less performers (limit of 6 performers)
which can perform between 10-20 minutes,
no music restrictions,
AND the performers are able to collect tips in the tipping baskets!

If you are interested in performing, drop me a line.
If you are interested in watching, make reservations now!

more info:
There is a $5 cover for the Hafla + $10 minimum per person in drinks/hookahs
Arabian Nights Hookah Lounge does not have food or alcohol for sale.
You can bring food with you ($1 charge)
or they can order food for you ($2 charge toward your minimum)

Performers do not have a cover or minimum.
Tipping the performers IS allowed! (YAY! money showers!) bring your singles!


The performers will have a back room to change and leave their things.
I will supply water & snacks for the performers' changing room &
tipping baskets on the floor during your performance.

There is a parking lot & Internet acess
and of course....Open Dancing with DJ Instant Cash!!!!

AND...it looks like they will be once a Month!
so if you can't make this Hafla,
but want to perform at a future one, let me know!

eta: Due to the smoking ban in Illinois,& since this Hafla is at a Hookah Lounge,
it is 18 & older. Unless a parent is w/ the under 18 person.

Wish I could make it - sounds fun! I'm going to prepare for the next one, whenever that is. Do a shimmy for me!

I will have to make a notation in my calendar...the first one was a lot of fun! I am happy to see that it may be on a regular basis.

That was a fun evening! The first set with all the dancers was fabulous! I wish I could have stayed for the second set though...

That was SUPER-FUN!!! Can't wait 'til the next three this Summer=Woo-Hoo!!! ..g.: I thought it was a very cool bonus to have the U.S. Marine Corps (HOO-RAH!) Officer there, truly (and respectfully:)) enjoying the bellydance show & even joining in!..l;, THANKS SO MUCH for this, Zayna!!!

I gotta crash the next one - as a viewer, of course! Wouldn't crash as a dancer!!

It was a wonderful evening.

There are no music restrictions for performers at the Hafla,
and last time- everybody picked MED Music!
So I decided...deep breath...to step out of the box.
I started my set w/ Leylat Hob.
By the ending of Leylat Hob I knew where my red veil had to be,
I flipped it up onto my arms, then relased the right side.
As soon as I did that, my second song started.
"AAhhhhhooOOOOOoooo, who's that I see walking through the woods?
Why it's Little Red Ridding Hood!"
yeah, as that song played, I brought the left side of the veil up & over my head
to look like a Red Ridding Hood! I had a great time!!!

Basia- it turns out- we didn't do a second set.
DJ Josh's Open Dance was awesome-
he played all the right music to inspire people to take the center of the room!

Mahira- I ALMOST got a picture of your double money shower

The next Arabian Nights Hafla is Friday June 12th,
we moved it back a weekend due to Tribal Rev!

Thanks for thinking of us over at Tribal Revolution, Zayna! I won't be making the 12th, 'cuz I'll be knee deep in getting Tribal Rev ready to go, but I'd love to come and play another time!

put me on the list for the one in July if possible. If not, then put me down for august.

Sounds like the first hafla was a great time, how awesome! Schaumburg isn't too bfe-burbs for this Wrigleyville girl, either ;) Do you have a site with any pictures from this, Egyptdancer or anyone else who performed??
I think I'll try to bug some other Arabesque dancers in the city to make the trip up there as an audience for the 17th, it sounds like a lot of fun.

If you are looking for something- you can contact Nilaja before the Hafla,
so she can bring it! She won't have her full souk with her on Friday.

ALSO- I am always collecting donation for the local homeless & near-homeless.
If you have any items to donate, you can bring them with you to the Show.
Things like food: oatmeal packets, peanut butter, canned foods, capri-suns, water
Personal care items- like travel size shampoos & soaps
Powdered Laundry Detergent- I divide it up, repackage it and hand them out.
Clothes, new or gently used- socks!
Gift cards- food, gas, train

Zayna, my students who went to last week's show came back just jiggling with delight about how much fun they had, how great the dancers were, and how positive and supportive everybody was!

I really can't wait for August! I'll encourage everyone to bring some donations, too.

Levana- I believe your students also came back with sparklies from Calico Garden:) They were awesome!
This venue is amazing, I hope many of you treat yourself to the next event!
