Thread: Tamalyn's Back Roads Tour: Need OK, TX, & CO in August

Hi All!

Tamalyn Dallal is visiting NH and hanging out with us up here for her book Tour. Her book and documentary, 40 Days and 1001 nights are wonderful and show a totally different side to many Muslim areas of the world. She's driving around the USA sharing her book and dance with places that otherwise may not have the opportunity to study with such a famous dancer (she's trained Bozenka, Amar Gamal, and many others). The tour is to promote her book, however in exchange for promoting her book she has made her dance workshops very accessible (hence why she's up here in the boonies!)

We had Tamalyn here on her Backroads Tour in Jan. She danced, taught two workshops, and gave a public lecture and book-signing. It was all fantastic, you won't be sorry if you sponsor this event. She provided excellent publicity materials, too, and the local media loved her story. We got two radio interviews and some nice pulbicity in the papers.

Plus, she has a delightful personality and her dancing is stunning.

I have never sponsored anyone or a workshop before so I am a bit nervous to take this on.

I don't know how much I can do for her.

As a troupe we are small we don't have tho money to rent space for a show so I don't know if she would want to come.

EM - If it's small could someone do it at their house? Maybe if the weather is nice you could even do it outside. We do that here some times.....g.:

I love Tamalyn! She is my favorite workshop instructor. I'm planning to drive to SC to hit some of her workshops. ;O)

Try talking to her directly, she might have ideas, too. The public library for the book signing and lecture, for example. A dance studio for the workshops, and perhaps a hafla at the dance studio afterward, for example?

I wish we could bring her to Dallas . . . but the dates you have mentioned are right after Cairo Nights (last weekend in July) and Ya Halla Y'all is right around the corner . . so I am not sure how much the pocketbooks can bear.

I was looking at her schedule a couple of weeks ago and wishing she would magically appear somewhere in the DFW area, lol!!!

Anyone else in the Dallas area interested in maybe a low key weekend with Tamalynn??

Tamalyn is coming to Tulsa August 1st! Workshop subject matter is Turkish - 2 hours - in the morning and Adding Drama to Your Dance - 2 hours - in the afternoon. Later that evening, the Circle Cinema will be screening Tamalyn's new movie, and following is a reception and book signing. Workshop price is 65 in advance, 70 at the door! I'll be posting a more formal announcement on the web site as soon as possable.

Hope you all can squeeze this event in! I know there are a few other things going on as well around this time.

Everyone needs to meet Tamalyn. She was here in Pittsburgh and it was unbelievable! She is amazing, a lovely dancer, fantastic teacher, and has an amazing wealth of knowledge. You will love her...I do! ..g.:

she is here in Raleigh now....she is AWESOME!!!! she has been here since last Wed....doing lectures, workshops, classes, ect...it has been so great having her here...

OMG. My boyfriend wants to bring me to Oklahoma to meet his dad.

Shall I persuade him to make the trip on August 1st? LOL

If you are planning to come to the Tamalyn Dallal workshop on August 1st, I'm recommending you register early. We've had a lot of interest, and I'm going to have to limit it to 40 - 50 dancers so we can all have enough space to dance. If you're traveling far, it would be wise to reserve your space now.

Tamalyn will be passing through the Amarillo area early in the first week of August on her way from Tulsa to NM. Anybody know anything fun/cool to do or, or a place she could present her book, or a good place to crash around Amarillo TX?

PS, Tulsa, get ready - you are in for a treat! Amity & I hosted Tamalyn in VT/NH, and I have been traveling with her for the last two weeks. She is a wonderful dancer, a real sweetheart and so much fun, and her classes are great!
