Looking for more to do in Worcester, MA
Okee dokee I have searched, but I can't find anything with Google. I did find some classes at the college I graduated from and went ahead and sent them an email.
Does anyone know anywhere else? Doesn't matter what genre, I am interested in learning more.
But, when I look and click on links well they just aren't working. ..c::
BTW, if you are from the area, and you probably already know there is going to be a Hafla on October 3rd! woo! My instructor is having the children dance there, so I am excited about that! ..l;,

Bdaddition- if you go to Bellydance New England's website, you can see what classes are in Worcester. I checked real quick and it looks like there is some on Saturdays.

I can't do Saturdays, because I work graveyard shifts Friday and Saturday nights. That stinks, but I will check the surrounding towns.
Thanks though, because I had forgotten that website.

Re: Looking for more to do in Worcester, MA
If you are up for a short drive (45 min-1 hr) there are usually things going on in the Amherst/Northampton area. We have monthly dance shows at the Clarion and there are several upcoming workshops (Ranya, Shadia etc.) although lots of things are on Fridays and Saturdays. Feel free to PM me.

Yeah I won't be able to get out of working on Fridays and Saturdays. That was the only nursing job I could get so I took it. It might take months to get another one. Since the criminal background checks are backed up due to state lay-offs.
The only thing on a Sunday is at QCC, but no email back of course. And my teacher is wiling to do any day with me, so I am grateful for that.
Thanks though, maybe someday.

Re: Looking for more to do in Worcester, MA
Dina LeDuke (sorry no link) has a studio in Worcester (Spencer to be exact) she has a teacher there who teaches Egyptian and I believe she teaches more fusion stylings.
Troupe Moirae is also in the area, they host workshops, shows and teach as well.
Najmat is located near Cambridge (she is friggin AMAZING and super nice) I would reccomend getting in contact with her

Thanks!
I will have to look up the tribe, I think my mother mentioned she seen them listed in the newspaper.
Cambridge is hella far and the traffic is killer, lets not include the tolls. I have Najmat on my Facebook she is supernice. She is having a workshop in CT that I am considering going to... There are so many opportunities in the Boston area that I wish I could go too. But, when there is a workshop I could definately go to one. A woman I use to dance with lives their, so we plan on doing this together. She has already been able to branch out and loves it.
Thanks, because it seems a ton of dancers in my area shut their sites down, so I can't find anything if they are linked on another page.

Re: Looking for more to do in Worcester, MA
Go for it, Dina has a lovely group of teachers and her studio is spacious and clean with parking around the back, she also vends some wonderful items (I spent way too much money the last time I was in her neck of the woods for a show.)
If you go tell her Tanya & Carmine say hi :)

Also check out the New England Bellydance Calendar on Yahoo Groups you have to join to see the postings. The woman who runs the group (Erzulie) is a total delight and an amazing American Cabaret/Turkish style dancer, her sword work is awesome!!

I think I have the Yahoo Group, just when they had stuff or have it, I can't go. I think I have seen some workshops at the Gypsy Group. One was I think for professional dancers, or something or other.
Did you say sword? I purchased a couple of DVD's from some members and a sword that should be coming soon. If I see a workshop on this I would totally go! I always wanted to learn that as well.
Dina has one class that I can attend since I take my other classes on Tuesday's. I haven't booked my Private lesson yet, so this will help me decide this. I think I have to register next week, so I was right on time with this thread.
