Lotus Niraja & The NDC are the hosts of the 2009 Belly Dance Nationals Competition in the Baltimore/Washington, D.C. area. We have worked so hard to bring to you a fresh, forward, and modern belly dance competition. We have competing dancers from the U.S and around the globe, such as Brazil, Canada, UK, and Asia!

Special Guests include: Tanya of Las Vegas, Ava Fleming, Ahava, Oreet, Azhia, and many more!

Who will wear the first BDNC crowns? Come to see who takes home the prize in National Champion, National Troupe, Alternative/Fusion Champion and more! Extra points for props? We have an appropriately named Proptastic! category for those dancers who love to infuse their style with all kinds of added extras. No points for the number of props ... you get the points for how well you use them! And…the pièce de résistance…the first annual Shimmilicious winner will be announced! Don’t miss it!

"Still thinking about competing?" We only have one open category left: Alternative/Fusion Troupe. This category is open to tribal and fusion dance troupes only! It's not too late to register! Here's the link: Belly Dance Nationals - Registration. This category is open to any level of dancers using Tribal/ATS/ITS, Urban, Bollywood, Tribal, Hip-Hop, and fusion dance styles.

Night Club Style Belly Dance Show Meet & Greet Hafla @ THE CAZBAR

In celebration of the 2009 BELLY DANCE NATIONALS COMPETITION, The Cazbar Restaurant in Baltimore will be hosting "HOT RAKS!", a Meet and Greet Hafla located in The Cazbar's one-night only Klub Raks (iLounge) the night before the BDNC Competition.

Join us as we celebrate in GRAND STYLE! Take this chance to let your hair down and dance the night away! **FREE**, but RSVP's and Tickets are required. Complimentary lite fare and an official BDNC cocktail awaits you! (Cocktails sponsored Three Olives® Vodka). Later in the evening, sit back and relax as several wonderful national and local dancers entertain you in a night club style show. Join us for this upbeat celebration!

I'll be sure to post results here after the competition weekend is over. That is, if someone else doesn't do it first - I might be passed out from exhaustion. I am so excited about it. Thanks to everyone for your support and encouragement as we've been preparing for the BDNC's maiden voyage!

the competitors aren't listed. the schedule is on the bdnc website as to which category is when.
ill be in the gala show saturday night! and attending the hafla party on friday

Well, y'all can all meet me! I'll be wearing all black and a pink sash (BDNC staff uniform). My hair is in Sisterlocks (tiny little dreads) and it'll be pulled up or back. I'll be around all weekend - dancing at the Hafla and in the Gala Show with The NDC. If you can't find me, just stand still and holler "Makeda (muh-KAY-dah)!" I'll come running - LOL!

No, The Bellydance Store won't be vending at the BDNC. There will be loads of other great vendors, though!
