    Operation Smile

I think this organization is awesome. I just wanted to post this info here in case anyone is moved to make a donation.....
It is no secret that I am a big animal and children lover.

This is what I posted on my tribe:

    Hi all,
I am donating my performance to a very worthy cause.
    Operation Smile
I will be dancing at a fundraiser at a private home in Cherry Creek with Kara Nomadica for Operation Smile.

If it strikes you to donate, please click on the link above.
    About Operation Smile:
Operation Smile's volunteer medical professionals travel around the world to treat children suffering from facial deformities. Their efforts mean new smiles for thousands of children,
This is a not for profit charity.
I get asked to donate performances tons of times. I only limit myself to two per year. I always do something for breast cancer, as my mother died a horrible death from the disease, and one other.
Operation Smile is the one I decided was worth it for me.

by the way, at this party, the food, decor, etc., all donated.
I'm not the only one donating to this cause.

    yay for you!

    Maria,

I would donate but am all tapped out this month. I will do so next month. You know, I absolutely love giving away money! I'd rather these organizations get it than the IRS who gets plenty of my hard earned dollars anyway!

I did just send $25 to the Children's Burn Foundation which has decided to help the little Iraqi boy who was doused in gasoline and set on fire. (God. what in the world brain dysfunction or evil causes people to do things like this?).

Their link is here by the way in case anyone wants to donate to that. https://www.applyweb.com/public/contribute?s=childb

The story has had a lot of attention on CNN.com so if you haven't read it, it is there.

ya know, I don't believe in the death penalty (one of the reasons being there are TONS of innocent people on death row)
but I tell ya, I'd love to make exceptions.
Re: remember the horrid story about the abduction in Florida of that little girl that was BURIED ALIVE!
Those people who did it, I'd love to do the same to them.....
    *sigh*
I really get sick, literally, over these stories. I get migraines.

    yep.

there are times when I want to revert to "an eye for an eye" mentality.

A really heartwrenching part of the story about little Youssif is that the family talked about how he was depressed and becoming jealous and angry. This poor child was on his way to some ungodly fate, no doubt. How could he not be?

But this rescue by the burn center is giving him a new life. We need to do about 10000x this kind of humanity-based work with Iraqi children to win hearts and minds as it were. That's where it starts.

Maria, I would love to start a Non-profit for animals and kids around the world. Obviously there are countless organizations doing great work, but I'd like to provide a funnel to them in some way that would provide the tax deductible set up. Guess I should look into it. It's something I feel so strongly about.

It's a great organization. My sister has been supporting for several years and she turned me unto them. I'll make a donation at the start of the month. Good luck with your fundraiser.

that is really good to hear. The band is donating their performance too.
I'm really picky about who I donate performances to. I only donate two a year, and one goes to a breast cancer organization, so I have to pick one out of many.
It's hard, because so many worthy organizations call.
This organization is one I can really support.
