Bay Area dance opps?
Hi all! I'll be back in the Bay Area in the beginning of May and am wondering if there are any dance opportunities while I'm there. I'm a professional dancer with (ahem) *years* of experience under my bedlah. ..g.: Would be interested in prof paid gigs as well as haflas, etc. Would also be into seeing some of the many great dancers in the area so if there are any events, let me know about those as well. Thanks in advance!

Pizza Raks is always fun--a hafla kind of atmosphere. I can't remember who runs it, I think it changes--but Annie or Masouma might know.
At some point, I'd like to do it again--when I get back to dancing.

i think pizza raks is no longer. if you go to the community page on the gilded serpent theres a photo of the last pizza raks.
for paid gigs, you can contact people who dance at restaurants to see if they need a fill-in while your here. several people come to mind.

There's also Pena Pachamama's in North Beach with George Lamman (sp?) Ensemble every Sunday. You would need to contact Amina Goodyear for a dance slot...but it's lots of fun!

Pizza Raks is, sadly, no more. the place was sold and the new owner is not interested in having it.

If your willing to take a drive, there's going to be an Oasis event in Sacramento on May 12th. :) let me know and I can get you the information.

Thanks Mina. I'm looking at my schedule and am wondering if I'll have time to fit in much dancing between my work responsibilities. Plus, I'm scheduled to dance back home on the 12th so will have to take a red eye back on the 11th to get home in time (!) ... still working it all out... Thanks!
