Thread: 2010 Monthly Sphinx/Mango Haflas (IL)

Anybody...pictures from the April hafla??? I'm bummed I had to miss it and would love to see some pics.

Basia- did you get to see pictures yet?

The May Hafla, which marks 7 YEARS of Haflas- is this Saturday- May 1st.
The performer info has been sent~

May 1st will also be the first night that *many* people in the northwest Chicago suburbs will face the rainy night outside without a roof over their heads. The reason for this is because the Cook County PADS shelters close! The close of the PADS season means- there is NO overnight shelter, NO dinner offered at the shelter, NO breakfast offered at the shelter, NO to-go lunches offered at the shelter, NO toiletries, showers, or laundry services offered either.
**If you have anything you would like to donate to help, please bring it to the Hafla!**
cold weather stuff: blankets, hand warmers,
wet weather stuff: tarps, umbrellas, rain ponchos,
outside weather stuff: bug spray, sun block, backpacks
food, shoes, baby supplies/diapers, powdered laundry detergent....

All of the Cook County PADS overnight sites are now closed until October.
I know the Elgin PADS is 365 days / year.
What community/county are you in???

Sorry I haven't posted in a while...
I am recovering from a pencil that went through my foot. ,m::..c::
I still can't walk, but I'm s l o w l y recovering.

Two changes with the Sphinx Haflas at Mango.
The year of theme nights are now over, it's back to reglar kinda music.
Also, the dinner/show/dancing is now $15 ..g.:

I will have to check out my community; I've been sending homeless people there. Now I feel terrible.

I think Lynette and I are on our own, too. But we're coming anyway. I'll call for reservations if you'd like to sit with us.

Hey, some of the smallest haflas are also the most memorable.

Even with the ceiling mopping and the Zombie Crabs...!

I thought the ceiling mopping was Essam's new act. But then I saw the cane . . ..w.:

You heard right (from what I heard with the holiday/fireworks/picnics, etc.)...so I guess the next one will be in August.

Hi all, sorry I have been Bhuz MIA, it's been a rough year.
Since my last visit on Bhuz I had an accident (pencil meet/go through foot),
my dog died, & now I have a family member BACK in the hospital.

September Hafla- yes there are some performance spots left w/ free dinners!
Mavi & Zoh'ra still interested?
I'm on emails every night updating family about the hospital situation,
so if you have my email that is best,
I'll check back soon!

be added, but for now the September 2010 line-up is:
