Thread: Dancers in Miami....

What is the dance scene like in Miami for students and pros? The good and bad? What does one need to know if you wanted to study and work in Miami?..g.:

Well, for one, you get to study with Virginia, Bozenka, Ansuya, Tamalyn Dallal, Nathalie and other awesome teachers! ..g.:

I may be moving to FL, but a 3 hour drive north in Cocoa Beach. I'll follow this thread, too ,r:;

They have more places to perform., a way more teachers., more opportunitties and the sun!!!

Thanks. Do you know any dancers who are performing, working, teaching or taking classes in Miami or on Miami Beach? Does the scene slow down in the summer and heat up again in the winter? Can you totally survive off BD in Miami? If so, what is the standard of living? Can you thrive?

Yes, the sun is beautiful. All year round.

I love Miami! [I live in the frozen North] I visit relatives every year who live 4 blocks from where Tamalyn Dallal's studio used to be in my beloved South Beach & taking classes there is the high point of my visit!!
The studio has since been turned over to Bozenka & moved to a different location, still fantastic, but not a short walk anymore for me!
My small experiences with Miami B.D. scene:
taking some classes at above, going to some outdoor on the beach shows put on by above, some nightclub shows, me - invited onstage in street clothes w dancers at Greek place ..g.:, that's about it.
Love the colorful, hot, Latino-influenced, tropical B.D.scene!!
Being from NY & showing up for class in my typical black - a burst of color, pastels, lightness, greeting me: lovely & refreshing!
I don't have any info of the business of B.D. My impression is that for a city that size, there are less studios & classes per capita than in say Chicago, NY. The ones that I have experienced are excellent.
