Thread: Thrill the World?

So it's not belly dance, but it is dance...:bat:

Has anyone here heard of Thrill the World? Is anyone else participating/organizing a group to do this?

I'm not going to post the details of mine here, because it's not technically bellydance, but it is Halloween related ..g.:

And just to tie it in, we may be performing the choreography at my teacher's haunted hafla the same day:)

I just wanted to put it out there and see if anyone else has gone into geeky excited mode:)

It's an attempt to break the Guinness world record for most people dancing simultaneously to Michael Jackson's Thriller.

I was curious if anyone else was organizing an event this year and to see if they were as excited as I am (and to spread the word about the event in general)!

I'm organizing an event with my bellydance teacher in Kenosha, WI, and I'm really nervous about talking to the press and whatnot. But when I first heard the idea, I couldn't resist. It was so kooky, that I just had to do it!

There it is ..l;, I can't wait for the 27th, partially because it'll be fun, and partially because I've been working on it for a while, and I'm ready for it to be over:) But it is cool to know part of the Thriller choreography:)

I have heard of the one in Kenosha, WI, and I am heartbroken that I wont be able to attend due to a schedule conflict. I hope you have an amazing time..and a great time at your halloween hafla afterwards too!!

That sounds like soooooo much fun!!! It would be so cool to be a part of something like that!

Will Unite To Attempt A Guinness World Record
on October 27, 2007.
Thrill The World is a worldwide attempt to break the Guinness World Record (GWR) for the Largest Simultaneous Dance with Michael Jackson's “Thriller.” Thousands of people in cities around the world will learn the “Thriller” dance and perform it at the exact same time on October 27/ 28, 2007. If you’ve ever seen the music video and thought, “I wish I could do that!” – this year, you will.

The actual event is scheduled for October 27, 2007, at 5:00 pm in Veteran’s Memorial Park at 625 – 52nd Street Kenosha, WI. A location in case of rain is pending.

Workshops to learn Thriller choreography:
Oct 14th 3:30 – 5:30pm (to learn the dance)
Oct 19th 6:00 – 8:00pm (option 2--to learn the dance)
Oct 26th 6:00 – 8:00pm (mandatory for all participants)

Come on out if you can... I figure the more, the merrier, and I'm trying to make this a really cool event that we can maybe repeat next year! And I've already got a BIG idea for next year (it'll be in Gurnee instead of Kenosha, but still in the same basic area)!!!!

Yeah, I'm way excited!

And now I'm trying to figure out how to make time at 9:40 on Friday morning to do a phone interview with a radio station... *sigh* I can't get off work :/
