Thread: Classes in or near Stony Brook, New York?

Anyone teaching or studying in or near Stony Brook on Long Island, NY? A student of mine is moving there and wants to continue her belly dance studies, and would like some recommendations. Anyone would be lucky to work with her, as she is a lovely person and a dedicated student.

I believe her preferred style is Egyptian and/or solo-oriented cabaret styles based on the fact that she took, liked, and performed with my classes, and that is also the style she studied with her first teacher in Spain. But I'll pass on anything about classes in the area you want to share, as she can certainly make her own choices! I told her about bhuz, so perhaps she'll get here eventually to ask for recommendations herself.

I live on Long Island. Uhm Elisheva teaches on Long Island but in nassau county its about an hour away from Stony Brook

Elisheva of Belly Queen is fabulous and her Cabaret classes are located in Manhasset. The ride is well worth it. Samira of Syria is also a very good teacher, I would highly recommend both of them. I teach, but she's probably a little bit more advanced for my classes and I teach in Massapequa. There is also Kenya, she also teaches in Manhasset. =)
