Thread: International competition in London!

Hi everyone

Khaled Mahmoud and I are running a new festival in London called Shimmy in the City. It's being held over the weekend of 23-25 September and we've got Tito, Soraia, Jillina and Wael Mansour teaching, plus Khaled and I. We've got some really fun things lined up including an international competition.

The competition has three categories: female professional soloist, male professional soloist and troupes. We've only just started the call for entrants but we've already got entries from Prague and Russia, plus of course, the UK.

it should be an excellent competition with a really high standard so if you're a great dancer and you want to raise your profile, have a look at the website and come and compete with the best!

There are two stages to the soloists competition - oriental and folkloric but just one stage to the troupe category. To enter you need to book at least one workshop at the festival (and there are some great workshops!) and pay a fee of £20

Yay! I'm so looking forward to the workshops! :D I've already booked the workshops, and will also buy tickets for the show and hafla =)

Just wondering; is it possible for the GP to watch the competition on friday? I read that the runners up would perform at the hafla, but would we be able to actually watch the competition?
