Thread: 2007 Monthly Sphinx Haflas (IL)

Okay, I'll admit I was a bit stressed about having to DJ but then I got there and found out we had only 3 numbers in the line-up. This meant I would have to DJ open dance music for almost 4 hours. Ack!

Fortunately, the dancers in the audience agreed to perform and I just happened to have the music they requested (one of the songs, Kidda, was on a class CD I threw together just last week!). I guess it was just meant to be, huh? Fortunately, I had to DJ open dance for only 2.5 hours. It actually went by pretty quickly.

DJ Josh was very envious. Ha! ..l;,

Don't worry, he will be back next time. It's much less stressful for me to dance. (Probably less stressful for the other dancers as well!)

That haf-flea was TONS of fun! It was actually more like what I think a hafla should be - impromptu performances with costumes put together by what could be found in everyone's dance bags, CD collection, and the trunk of their car! Not to take anything away from the performers who prepare to dance and come in full bling -- but there were some pretty awesome performances out there on the spur of the moment.

Uh, Serpentina??? That old slinky Diva?? .w.: I'll ask her if she wants to come out of "retirement," but I dunno. She's been somewhat a recluse lately - since her, uh, accident. You know those really long eyelashes she has? Er, had? One fell off when I stuffing - I mean helping her into her transport carrier, and she got a look at herself in the mirror, went into a swoon and has been hiding in the closet ever since. Silly girl - she knows I have a barrel full of Elmer's glue for just such emergencies, but she's so vain. And she wants a new costume before she'll leave the closet. Says the peacock feather on her headpiece is sooooo last year! :egy:

This story had me in a fit of giggles a few weeks ago in Peoria. I actually vacillated between giggles and sadness..then giggles..then sadness.....
