Thread: 2007 Monthly Sphinx Haflas (IL)

Hello~
I just wanted to post the dates of the 2007 Sphinx Haflas.

Sphinx Haflas are the 1st Saturday of each month.
They are designed for the Chicago-area BellyDance Community to network. The Haflas are made up of different instructors and their students, solos and groups, veils and sword, ect. . . .

The Haflas are at:
Sphinx Cafe- 8743 Milwaukee Ave in Niles
(se corner of 14 & 21) 847-967-0030

Admission is $12 and includes:
*Middle Eastern/American food buffet
*BellyDance Show
*Open Dancing

They are from 7-10pm on the 1st Saturday of the month.

I am making it a goal for 2007 to finally attend on of the Sphinx haflas. It's an absolute crime I haven't made it down the last couple of years!

I sent an email regarding the April one. I'm going to be visiting Chicago to see some friends. Even if I can't perform I will definitely try to drag my friends to go see it. :D

Since this is my first hafla ever, can anyone help out? I'm not performing, but was just curious about the norm there...

Thanks! I'm always shy about jumping in on a board, but I had to ask, because as a noob, I don't wanna stick out, you know? The hubby's coming with (hrm, let's see... an evening of Middle Eastern food and bellydancing... I think I'll have to twist his arm to get him there!:)), and we're both looking forward to it.

The cool thing about a hafla is you can wear almost whatever you want. I always see people in jeans, people in dresses, funky clothes, sexy clothes, spiffy clothes, casual clothes.

I use haflas as an excuse to get the weird stuff out of my closet -- my East Indian salwar kameez outfits, anything sorta flowing & bohemian.

My hubby has a tie with a bellydancer on it he ALWAYS wears. Hmmm, gotta find him some more of those! But other hubbies wear T-shirts.

Woah! I did not expect a SOLD OUT Show!!!!
Tonight was a blast!

The next Hafla is Saturday, April 7th. . .
(TeeHeeHee- people have already started making reservations for the April Hafla)
