Thread: 2008 Monthly Sphinx Haflas (IL)

The December Sphinx Hafla performance information emails have been sent out,
and are already coming back.

So far the confirmed performers for Last Sphinx Hafla of 2008 are:

* Aziza
* Desert Rain
* Eris
* Galatea
* The Goddess Mari
* Hafiza
* Hanan of Smoke
* Janan & Zivah
* Kara
* Mahira
* The Mystic Rose Dancers
* Saayidah
* Veiled Ambition
* Zayna
* Essam
* and the Michelle Joyce choreographies! (Move and Drum Solo)

ok- for the MJ performances who is still in? and for which song(s)?
We will perform the choreographies last (even after Essam)
wear whatever you would like.
I will be practicing from 7-8pm the next 2 Fridays in Arlington Heights.

The videos you emailed were enormously helpful! I have the choreo all written out now, and will be practicing as much as I can over the next week and a half.

I have a 10 hour car ride each way for Thanksgiving, so I'll be doing a lot of the memorization part on the drive!

I do! I was flying solo that night - but my little PT Cruiser just, uh, cruised over the snow! It was one of the BEST haflis!

All 12 people in the restaurant sitting around the fireplace under the pyramid, chatting, dancing, toasting marshmallows. sigh.

(Zayna, let everyone wonder what the hell I'm talking about. Give us something to talk about THIS December halfa! )

BTW, my hubby has to work an overnight on Saturday, so I'm bringing Katie along. So if any of you were thinking of bringing your kid(s), she'd love the company!

I remember the date last year because I was doing a benefit and amazingly, all the dancers made it too! Only for a good cause. . .unfortunately, there weren't too many people who came to see us but we tried!! If I made it out last year, I think I can handle tomorrow's. Besides, I have to - I'm bringing one of the stars!! Oh and yeah, I want to get my copy of the MJ video ..g.:

I would like to do them :) I really like the drum solo!! Both of them are much fun. I got so sick the last few weeks, so it was impossible for me to meet up for practice ,f::
So... if you do it in January I would love to!

Plus, I'm finally done with my solo choregraphy so that won't be taking up my brain as much anymore!!

I'm sorry I didn't get more, but it's so dark at the Sphinx that a lot of them didn't turn out.

Yeay! what a fun time on Saturday. Kudos ladies! The Michelle Joyce choreography was wonderful! You all put your unique touches to the dance and it was like watching a smorgasbord of awesome!

Hey Desert Rain! Just LOVED the Shimmy Hendrix routine! You guys RAK-IT!

Galatea, is that the costume you bought at the MJ workshop? HOT!!! Sorry I didn't get a chance to talk with you - much confusion in the corner since I had 20 people with no place to sit. The person I made my reservation with, um, didn't write it down. By the time they found us enough seats, the show was starting. Anyway, you were great!

Looking forward to January's hafla at the Mango! Hope to see everyone there and have time to actually say hello!

Zayna, as usual, you did a stellar job of organizing. You should get a medal!
