Thread: Lineup for HoHoHo Habibi Hafla (8pm on 12/15)--please read!

Hi everyone!

There's a change in the show start time for HoHoHo Habibi on Saturday
December 15th. Here's the revised schedule for the festivities ;-D

6:30pm Doors open to the public
7:00-8:00pm Open dancing and LIVE DRUM JAM!
****SHOW STARTS AT 8:00****

There will be LOTS of fantastic shopping and the vendors will be ready
for your business as soon as the doors open at 6:30pm. There will be a
food concession this year (Athar restaurant). It's going to be a BIG
show with dancers from three states performing!! Scheduled to appear...

Would anyone be interested in carpooling? I live in Evanston, I'm still kinda new to Chicagoland, and I've never driven out that way so I don't trust myself not to get lost. I'll buy Eye Kandy for anyone who wants to help me out! ;)

Even if you can't give a lift to a directionally challenged dancer, I do want to say "HI" in advance! I'm kinda shy, so I've seen a lot of you dance but I haven't really introduced myself much yet. I'm looking to change that!

Nimah, I'm not sure I know of anyone in Evanston in the bellydance scene! Maybe someone will pop in this thread and surprise me, tho!

Hi Nimah! It's not hard at all...I'm guessing you would take Dempster west to 294 south, then exit 13A (there's a sign for Elmhurst) which puts you on North Ave for less than a mile. Intersection of North and York turn right. Very next light is 3rd Street, turn left. One block and BOOYAH! You're there!;wi

oh for the love of god, keep me away from Andrea's. I just got paid today, so my bank account is FULL, and so is my savings as I'm desperately trying to save up for a new sofa (I blew the last sofa money savings on a lime green Aida Nour type costume)...c::

I saw the red costume, Galatea..... got all excited & pulled it out, then saw that it wouldn't fit me. So sad. Andrea told me it was for you.

She has some Aida Nour stuff this time.... I was over there on Monday and bought two new costumes, but there were five I wanted.

Between Andrea's new shipment and Kimahri's wares, you'll all have no trouble spending your Christmas money or buying gifts for each other!

Kimahri, thank you for the directions and for offering up your cell phone number to a potentially lost attendee. :) I'm especially worried about the snow now, but unless it gets worse than they predict, I'm gonna tough it out because this sounds too good to miss.

You and I have already met, albeit briefly! I stopped by your Eye Kandy table at Raqs Gothique and thanked you for advertising on your mailing list my open workshop spot. :)

I want to meet all you other Bhuzzers now! I have long straight brown hair, and I'll surely be wearing Melodia pants tonight. Probably my black sparkly ones, because they're so well-suited for festive holiday gatherings. ;)

Since my car decided to become acquainted with a ditch this afternoon, I'm not feeling too great about driving anywhere. I'm quite shaken up and exhausted from the ordeal. The car seems to be okay, but we're having a mechanic look at it before we drive it again.

I'm so sorry, Kimahri and I hope everyone else has a lovely night of great performances. Me, I'm going to just hide in my bed and try to feel safe.

I am still in St. Louis because of the stupid stinking weather!!! ..cr.:

I hated to cancel, but it had already been sleeting here for an hour when I had to make the call. I agonized for almost 45 minutes over it. I'm not normally a weather weenie, but I didn't like the prospect of driving for five hours in snow with an expected accumulation of 3-7 inches. I am sad that I don't get to see everyone! Plus, I was looking forward to selling Sumaya her new sofa! ..g.: Laura, if you're still interested in the red costume please PM me. I can take some photos and send them to you. I don't have a regular photo shoot scheduled until after the holidays, and if I can't find someone to put it on I'll take flat photos.

I'm hoping you guys have a great time, and I'm sure you'll dance well. Hopefully I'll see you soon!

I had a blast! I was supposed to dance and leave (which I hate doing) because i had a gig, but as I was on my way to the hafla my gig was canceled (due to the weather) so I was glad I was able to stay and watch the show. It was so much fun!

Galatea, you rocked that candy cane! It was so nice to see you and Sumaya and hang for awhile.

another fantabulous event produced by KB entertainment. It just goes to show that even with the snow, people came out in droves to attend a KB event!

What a fantastic show! I didn't get home until after 1:00am, but it was so worth it. For two of the ladies I came with, it was their first Chicago event, and they were just blown away by all the talent. Sumaya, I was so happy to see my BHF (Best Habibi Forever) last night. Email and Gmail chats are just not the same.

Mahira, you were so awesome last night - definately one of my favorite performances of the evening. I loved your musical interpretation, especially those little flourishes and accent moves that made the song totally your own. And, if I may say so, you were drool-worthy sexiness personified.

I love my Eye Candy, and am offically an addict! I don't have a gig for a while, so I'm wondering if I can pull it off for a daytime look, just so I can get to use it soon. Kim, you are just the most amazing person - running the show, selling Eye Candy to a huge group of rabid dancers, and dancing the most adorable and sassy Christmas number ever. I didn't think you could outdo "Santa Baby" from a couple of years ago, but you totally did. I bow at the feet of the master.

Andrea, I will send you a PM. I was so sad that you couldn't make it, but like I said to Sumaya, "Better she live on to buy us future costumes in Egypt." ..l;,

Thanks, Erika! Thanks also for being my messenger of bad news. I really wish I was there... and even more now reading these glowing reviews in the aftermath. I'm pretty stiff today and in some pain. Going to the doc tomorrow. I think trying to dance (especially the choreo I had planned for last night) would have been a bad move in the end.

Kim, I'm going to have to get my mitts on your Eye Kandy sometime soon!!

WHAT A NIGHT!! I was hoping and praying that the weather wouldn't totally derail the evening ,f:: ..what a THRILL that so many people still came out!

We had vendors! and dancers! and drummers! it really did happen! ..l;,

The show was terrific--what a wonderful variety of dance styles and costuming! (I had some newbie students in the audience that were BLOWN AWAY) Everyone brought their A game and the audience was very appreciative.

My deepest thanks to EVERYONE that came out and special smooches to all the helping hands with getting the tables and chairs in and out!! I got home, schlepped in and collapsed at the kitchen table only to see a note from my daughter "Dear Mom, I had fun at the show. Please don't forget to wake me up early tomorrow for choir at church we need to leave by 7:30."

OY.....no rest for the wicked!!

As soon as I drop the kids at school tomorrow I am heading to People's Resource Center to give them a check for ****$800***** and drop off a huge load of food (every inch of my car is crammed with grocery bags!). In the check memo I wrote "with love from the bellydancers"
