EGYPT TURKEY - Vive la Difference! *Weekend Intensive*

The 2nd Annual Weekend Intensive - Discover the differences and similarities between these two branches of the Middle Eastern Dance tree. Learn from two well-known master teachers and historians, Artemis and Yasmin Henkesh, - with over 80 years of dance experience between them - teaching together in one exciting week-end: Thursday to Sunday 16 - 20 February 2012.

The 4 day workshops include classes on the following subjects:
History lecture and movie night (unavailable footage from private collections)
Ghawazee versus Turkish Romany
Finger cymbals: zills versus sagat
Rhythms: Shared and seperate
Veil: Egyptian entrance versus veil dancing
Hipwork: Turkish hip and pelvic articulations versus Egyptian styling
Shimmies
The Basics

Tentative times for classes are:
Thursday 7:00 pm - 10:00 pm Movie night (of unavailable footage from both our collections)
Friday 4:00 - 6:00 + 8:00 - 10:00 History lecture + Basics and their differences + [possibility of privates during the day]
Saturday 10:00 am - 1:00 pm + 2:00 - 5:00 pm classes
7:30 - 10:30 pm performances in the studio - informal hafla
Sunday 11:00 am - 1:00 pm + 2:00 - 4:00 pm classes

$395.00 for over 20 hours of instruction - early bird registration

does this pick up where the last workshop series left off, or can I come into it without having done the first one?

and

anyone on bhuz going who might want to share accommodations or someone living in the area who would let me crash at their house??? :)
(I've hosted a few bhuz friends at my house before, I can refer you to them so you know I'm not crazy/weird or anything lol!)

This is a repeat of the first one. Part 2 - a follow up to part 1 - is set for Oct 2012.

Arty usually hosts 6-8 people in her house, but those spots fill up fast. Please send her an email to see if there is still room. We help all the out-of-towners find accommodations.

Early bird pricing for the workshop will end January 10. There are spaces left, but now that Xmas is over they are starting to go.

Arty and I would love to have as many Bhuzzers as possible, because of your love and dedication to the dance. We both look forward to the exchange and intellectual stimulation that comes with getting dance lovers together for 4 days. It was such a joy the first time around.
