Thread: New SoCalCA Events

I received an email yesterday that was from Marta Schill & Miles Copeland about two new LA bellydance events.

1. Bellydance RaqsLA - May 17 & 18, 2008

2. TribalLA - September 27 & 28, 2008

This was all the information that was in the email, and both are being at the Glendale Civic Center in Glendale. I'm sure that Dani will be able to elaborate more on them as time goes on since she's in the LA area.

Im also producing a show in So. Cal on January 19th!

I would love to go to that Hypzotica too.... maybe if I can pull away!

I hope that the Bellydance Raqs LA is supposed to be 2008 rather than 2007, or else it already happened...????

Is this the new Cairo Carnivale by any chance? It's at the previous CC venue....(which I liked better than the racetrack...)

I changed the date. Apparently this is something different than Cairo Carnivale, and is going to be produced by Marta and Miles. I'm assuming that Cairo Carnivale will be held as planned, but time will tell..........

last i heard CC will be called mecda carnivale. it will be held on the advertised date on mecda.org at santa anita. marta had already announced she was producing her own event. apparently with miles' help. there has been a large email on the subject out there from bdss. tina

Yes, there are three festivals in 08, mecda's in June as usual at the race track and Marta/Miles/BDSS in May at the old CC location in Glendale. I'm told Miles' first event is to be called Belly Dance Raqs LA and will include BDSS auditions; scheduled the same weekend as Tribal Fest 08. I think TribalLA is to be held there too.

I think the CC is still going to be held, remember, Marta was only ONE of the people who put the CC together. There are lots people who work on the CC to make it sucess.

I will probably try to go to as many events as I can, starting with Roxxanne's in January.

San Diego is only 2 hours from LA area as opposed to 4 hours from where I used to live. Car pool anyone?

yes i know marta isn't the only one who put on CC. as i stated there will be a mecda event at santa anita in june. by the by i'm getting my info varily close to the source. tina

In addition to the new events by Marta/Miles, there will also be a CC. Same place, same date, same time.

OH And the EDA (Ethnic Dance Academy San Diego) is having the Annual Weeklong Summer Intensive from July 6 - 13. and our guest instructor will be THE Sahra Saeeda.... Not to be missed... over 40 hours of instruction at a very reasonable price in the best place to vacation in the world - San Diego.
