Ack, I wish you would have chosen a different weekend! That's the same weekend as the IBCC in Toronto, which will have Khairiyya Maazin, Tito, Mahmoud Reda, and many other fine instructors. So I'm already committed to IBCC.

Dina is someone I *would* consider traveling to study with, but this time the timing is bad!

On another note, I hope you & Artie offer the "Viva La Difference" workshop again sometime. I really, really wanted to come to DC for the one a couple of weeks ago, but just couldn't make it work with my schedule.

Oh dear, I already have workshops and a dance spot for Rak Spring Caravan.

It should be a wonder time- as with all of yours and Artie's events!

I know the timing is bad I was going to go to the IBCC, too. I was so looking forward to watching Khairiya play sagat. I had nothing to do with the planning of this. It is being organized by someone outside of the belly dance community who has contacts for the big music shows (hence Hoba). They just finalized the details now... But it is in my city and she's never taught in DC before, so I feel I have to go to this instead. I am just getting the word out there to anyone who wasn't already committed and wanted to come.

Turkey / Egypt Part 1 we are turning into an annual event for February. We had a wonderful time and I had many students tell us they never learned so much in a workshop. We will be setting the date soon. Part 2 is scheduled for 5-7 Oct. I am also about to release a new CD entitled Turkey / Egypt: Turkish Belly Dance Favorites by the Henkesh Brothers. I sent it off to the replicators today. It is my best album so far. It was born out of a need to give my musicians work after the revolution when all the parties stopped. They put their heart and soul in it.

I called to ask if there were private lessons available or semi-private that Th, Fri, Sat, Sun, mon. That's a big NO.

They did mention she was "flying city to city to do shows" in "those two weeks"... Does Any One Else know where she's going to? I so hope NYC! (even though I doubt since it's so close to DC).

Hi Ayla, None of her shows in other cities than DC are confirmed. She might go to New Jersey, but no plans for NY so far.

Mmm. It would be nice to know if she has any other cities planned. I took a workshop from her in Chicago and was blown away. She is fabulous! Not the greatest teacher really - she follows the bouncing butt method - but what a personality! And she was choreographing on the spot and remembered what she did. Her Saidi/Shaabi was an eye opener.

It's important to have definite dates published as soon as possible. If you're new to promoting bellydance workshops -- as opposed to other kinds of events -- you may not realize how crowded the calendar gets. Dina is wonderful and a huge draw, of course, but if you wait too long to get the word out and dancers are already committed to other programs, you may not get the numbers you need. Best of luck!

Apparently no vending since they are bringing their own stuff.

That takes money out of your pocket... Local vendors and dance schools aren't competition to Dina. May I suggest you revisit that decision?

I really liked what Dina did in chicago! and I've taken several of her workshops when Little Egypt brought her to the States (Dallas, Los Angeles, Miami and chicago) . . . :-)

I'll bring it up again. It didn't seem worth the effort.

I am hoping to make it to this event- I specifically didn't call into Spring Caravan beause I wanted to go to this

I liked the workshop I took with her in Cairo about 10 years ago.

Any more news if Dina has anymore shows in the US or Canada other than in DC this weekend? ^_^ thanks!
