Aussies! And everyone! Oasis New Zealand 2007

After chatting with the event organiser I have learned that there are still quite a few places available at Oasis Dance Camp New Zealand, this November - and realised there might be quite a few people who *would* like to come, from outside NZ, that don't realise it's on.

Everyone who has been to an Oasis dance camp will have a fair idea of what's in store - three days of dancing, dancing, dancing, and no need to worry about accommodation or food because it's all right there. The main drawcard is master teacher Cassandra Shore, who has the most wonderful oriental style and fabulous technique. No, she's not Egyptian (though she can dance it, and Raqia Hassan apparently once called her the best Egyptian style dancer in the US), but she *is* classic belly dance with, to my eye, a leaning towards Egypt rather than old school Am Cab, and will put you through your paces! And she is great. Did I mention she is great?

The other guest is Amel Tatsouf, who is a specialist in North African maghrebi dance. And Nicole le Corgne, superdrummer, completes the lineup.

The cost - remember Aussie dollars go further - is very good value for money. Once you're there, there are no extra charges. Plus, you get to visit Tongariro National Park. Given this is a three dayer, it's a perfect spring break, and you can either join the tour that's planned for the furriners or do your own thing if you want to stick around later.

You can find out everything you need to know about the event, including booking details, here:

If you have any problems with the organiser's email, try the same name but to gmail instead.

For those who haven't been to an Oasis Dance Camp in the States, I can highly recommend going! I've been twice and wish I could fit it into my schedule more. I went to the South camp, which I really liked since we stayed in a small hotel on an island off the coast of Georgia.

I was seriously considering going to this one in New Zealand, because I want to go to NZ . . . combining travel and dance is a great way to see the world. But this year it looks like I am going to be short on vacation time, etc.

I've been to Australia for work but didn't manage the time to get over to NZ. Now I have the miles to get there (I think American Airlines is buddied up with Qantas, so i can fly them), but no time!!
