Um - just a tiny request - or thought, really. I suppose it doesn't have to be a rule - but it would really help if the sizes of the costumes were posted in the subject line. I find it really time consuming reading (and falling in love with) costumes only to get to the bottom of the page and see it won't fit.

Another request: If you have more than one costume for sale, can you please list them in one post?

    ...pretty please?

I've done that, and that method has its own problems, such as people getting confused if you have two costumes that are similar in the batch.

What should I do if I've had a problem with a seller? For example, I tried to get a dancer to go $25 less than her asking price. She insisted it was worth the money. The costume was definitely not worth what I paid and when it arrived it was stuffed into a box without any wrapping and one of the stains was all tangled up and beads had fallen off due to the wrapping.

I'm really so sorry that happened to you. She should remember what comes around goes around.

May I cross post my Ebay listings? Unique one of a kind costume items?

My thought would be to contact the seller and let her know. I, for one, would want to know if a costume was damaged in shipping. I try to package them carefully, but I know that the boxes get tossed around alot!

    Just my two cents!

look people, i'm just a dancer who started performing months ago, and bought so much stuff from the excitement of it all. so recently i went thru my closets and decided what i'd absolutely keep, what i'd absolutely sell, many new items never having been worn, and then offer the best deal to other dancers here at bhuz. i am NOT a retailer, don't own a store, or make clothing to sell. i was selling my own merchandise and i have friends who can attest to it. why do good things have to go sour? and more importantly, why wasn't i approached first and asked to explain my selling of new items before my threads were deleted and i was told i must be a retailer? i've been categorized as something i am not and injustly so! i realize my post here could get deleted too. if it does..i'm gone.
Well that sucks, but on the flip side, I know people (sometimes myself included) get a little irritated when someone brand new comes on here and one of the first things (if not THE first thing) they do is sell their stuff rather than contribute to the conversations going on the other boards. Someone probably reported you (I don't think Rosey sits on bhuz all day and waits for violators). I think people like to see Bhuz as a community where we all know everyone and most people have credibility. When someone new comes on and starts selling stuff without any cred here on the boards, it makes people uneasy since these are big monetary transactions without having built any trust.

    I understand this.

At what point, though, would someone have enough credibility to post things on the swap? # of stars? personal recommendations? a vote by the concensus? Some folks just don't have time to post in the forums but they find this a viable place to sell their wares, with legitimate intentions.

I see new people coming on to the Swap Boards and saying that they make brand new costumes. Have they been reported as someone who should really be on the retailer swap meet?

    Just asking rhetorically...

I see your point, Azhia. I'm actually someone who doesn't mind too much if someone brand new comes on to the swap meet to sell costumes. I'm a selfish costume ogler and take my sparkle-viewing fix any way I can get it! :-D

I'm all for it, too! Share the blingy love!

It does suck when someone takes advantage of the system. It's hard to gauge sometimes who is abusing and who has genuine intentions, unfortunately.

I'm grateful for the opportunities to sell. When done with honest intentions it keeps the good energy going because someone else benefits from someone who benefits by selling, who then gets benefitted because they can aquire things with new energy and the person who benefits from the one who benefits by selling also gets new energy.

As a new member, I have a question. I was wondering why the preference for one post for numerous costumes? I tend to overlook them as it becomes confusing esp if there is alot of activity (some items sold, some not, questions, getting in line.....). I have read thread replies where buying/sellers are asking what item was referred to in the previous thread......

The posts I absolutely pass over are for numerous items - sometimes even more than a dz! In the past I have read through one page or more of thread replies to find the one item I am interested in is sold. Or worse, I found myself taking notes if I had interest in more than one item on a post.

I would love to see more lots posted for inexpensive items.

I don't think that was it. I think it was multiple posts of the same thing, day after day, all of which were new items.

To Bhuz's (and other members') defense I remember thinking that she was a vendor after seeing her post something close to seven new silver veils over the course of 1-2 weeks. Most people would think a dancer would have five different veils unless there was a troupe thing going on and they would usually not all be new items all of the time.

    Re: Swap Meet "Rules"

Did we ever decide on official rules or a complaint procedure?
I have a complain & I thought I could just be the bigger person & just let it go, but I gotta say something! I offered to buy a costume off a seller here after she reduced it. She preferred a check but I couldn't do anything but paypal. I expected to be refused over that & would have understood but after leaving me hanging for a day, she told me she decided not to sell it until the economy got better! The reason I'm bent out of shape on this is because I'm a beginner belly & the only "real" costume I have is a gold one to match my troupe (not very fond of gold) that I got from Andalee Oriental (Thank you again) and I'm an odd size (40" hips & B cup). This one was a black & white bedlah (goes with everything!!!!) and it would have fit with some cup padding.
I've consoled myself with the fact that at least I didn't loose any money-sigh.

    Re: Swap Meet "Rules"

Pardon me if this has already been covered in this (or another) thread, but I'm wondering about listing my item(s) in the other international SWAP MEET markets (Canada, Australia, etc.), as I am willing to ship internationally. The international swap meet listings clearly indicate their purpose: to not have to suffer excessive charges and complications with customs, so I'm not posting on those forums. Yet I wonder how I reach potential buyers internationally?

Good question planetsuzanna. Also, if I post something in the genral swap is that reaching everyone internationally or should I post in each international category? bascially it's the same question asked differently, how do you reach international buyers/shoppers?

You could post that you will ship anywhere. That is what I do. Look at the Searching For Something thread too. Sometimes you may be able to sell someone something that they desperately need. If I got to New Posts, and click on Shopping Only it brings up anything that anyone is selling in all Swap Meets, international included. Sometimes people post in both.

Hope that helps and not sure if it is a "rule", but I have bought from International sellers and same with someone buying from me.

    I have a suggestion.
As a buyer, once you've received the item and the transaction is complete, post in the original post with your praise (hopefully it's praise), send the seller a message saying you got it and all is good, and also post a comment on that persons profile saying you bought an item from them and it was all good. Kind of like ebay feedback.
    What do you think?
kitiera, harmoney76 and MoondanceS like this.

If you're re-posting a nice item that just didn't work for you, I also think it's cool to make clear that the item was "as described" and the seller was not at fault. I try to do that.
