DC/VA/MD, Friday March 14 -- Got plans? Join us!
Come to Saffron Dance's beautiful studio in Arlington from 8:30 till ??? to celebrate the first anniversary of the World Music Folklife Center! Enjoy live Middle Eastern music, open dancing, drinks, tasty treats, a debke lesson with Kostana, and a silent auction with a wide variety of items to tempt you. (Raki, anyone? Dinner at Cazbar? Folk art? A hand-dyed silk veil? How about a session of bellydance classes with Saphira or a zill workshop with Kostana?)
It's all for a great cause, too. The suggested donation of $10 and all auction proceeds go directly to fund the Center's upcoming Herdeljezi Festival, a full day of workshops in Rromani dance & music, followed by a traditional Rromani Slava (PARTY) with live music, special guest performances and open dancing. Details on both events, along with descriptions of many silent auction items, are on the Center's website here: World Music Folklife Center - Calendar of Events
Saffron Dance is conveniently located near the Clarendon station on Metro's orange line, half a block west of the intersection of Washington and Wilson Blvds. Directions and other info, including class and workshop schedules, are here: Saffron Dance | Belly Dance Classes in Arlington
Hope to see you there!
Suzana

Zana,
Thanks & it was great to meet you tonight face to face! What a lovely lady you are and great dancer too! Such a fun night and a pleasure listening to the classical Ottoman songs & dancing to the up tempo songs of the Near East Music Society! Loved the Dabke Kostana taught as well!
There was a nice turnout and lovely items up for bid in the silent auction. I'm not sure who won them, but whoever did, got some great things. I'm glad I could stop by & spend some time in between gigs!
Let's hope this is just the beginning for a great year & successful fund raiser for the Herdeljezi Festival in May 17th!
Again if anyone is in the DC area on May 17, this is the place to be!

Bellydancefanatic: Sorry to have missed you tonight! We'll have to meet another time!

What sweet things to say, Shadiyah. Thank you! Hope I didn't seem hopelessly clumsy -- I wasn't actually planning on dancing at all due to an injury, but what Saphira's girls wants, they gets.

It was lovely to meet you also and confirm all those nice things our mutual friend has said about you. (And you really do look like Nadirah's gorgeous little sister!) The ladies from Saffron asked me to pass on that we would love to take a "field trip" to see you dance sometime, so if you have a restaurant show or other public gig coming up in April or May, please let me know and I'll do my best to organize the belly posse.
See you at Raqia? Or the Herdeljezi Festival? Somewhere soon, I hope!
Best,
Suzana
